Starting to think about Christmas events?

The Elf Explorer on The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is definitely worth going on if you are looking for a wholesome family Christmas outing.

A wonderful well organised event from start to finish.

As soon as you got to Oxenhope Station you are in Winter Wonderland and the magic starts with receiving your golden ticket to board the train.

The Elf Show is very entertaining! Lots of singing and dancing along with the very talented Elf on the stage whilst sipping your drinks and watching the kids get their boogie on.

Once it’s time to board the train you are straight to your seats and the next part of the show begins. Think dancing elves, a Scrooge who obviously comes round to the Elf’s way of thinking, a visit from Santa, more dancing elves on the platform at the other end, a cuddle from Rudolph and more singing along on the way back.

The train travels from Oxenhope to Keighley and back taking around an hour. In that time you are fed mince pies with warm mulled w**e and juice and sweets for the kids. The kids get an age appropriate gift from Santa too.

A magical theatrical experience which we all throughly enjoyed! Well done Worth Valley.

A pram friendly 4 mile circular walk which is pretty easy going.

The views around the reservoir are lovely and there are a couple of spots you can get down to the waters edge to throw stones.

2 car parks service this reservoir, both of which are pay and display or there is a free layby just off the A59 at Blubberhouses.

Facilities and an ice cream van in the main car park by the dam.

C O N I S T O N E D I B ( & P I E ) 💚

Another walk that you may not have heard of before.

This Yorkshire Dales walk near Kilnsey is one that is a bit more of a challenge with little ones due to a bit of scrambling/climbing.

Going up through the gorge and the Dib is top exploring territory for them. Rewarded with epic views once you get up onto the limestone pavement at the top which gives Malham Cove a run for its money (on a smaller scale).

You can add on the additional part of the walk to the Pie too if you wanted.

Free parking in the village but no facilities. The nearest cafe would be Kilnsey Park.

Come along to Skipton Library on Monday 26th October to find out more about a brand new children's book all about Skipton, and join in with some fun Skipton-themed crafts!

Where Next? Skipton is a new children’s book exploring some of the town’s best-loved landmarks and local places – with a little sheep hidden on every page to spot! 🐑

Created by two Skipton-born-and-bred childhood friends who want to celebrate this wonderful town! ❤️

The event is completely free with books available to buy and be signed by the author. 📖

On the tops above Cowling and Sutton since the infamous Salt & Pepper Pots.

A lovely short walk with amazing views over the Aireville Valley, even better at sunset.

Did you know can even climb up Lunds Tower although it’s not for the faint hearted.

Looking for a pumpkin patch?

Yorkshire Pumpkins is a fab one to visit!

Yorkshire Pumpkins is near Thirsk. It’s huge so doesn’t feel too busy. The patch had the biggest pumpkins I’ve ever seen, we couldn’t believe the variety there when we last visited.

Lots going on with games set up in the barn… pumpkin bowling, beanbag toss, little tractors plus plenty of photo opportunities. There was also a coffee and cake trailer and a pizza van outside.

We had a great time picking our pumpkins, playing in the rope maze/castle, driving the tractor and taking it in turn to push the wheelbarrow… until the inevitable happened. Little kids should not be in charge of barrows!

Fab set up with super friendly helpful staff. Felt like a real family run affair. We loved it!

P U M P K I N P A T C H 🎃

Our annual autumn day out to the pumpkin patch today but we tried a new one!

Oxenhope Pumpkin Patch was great!

A small family run patch where they have put so much effort in to making it a fab place to get your pumpkins.

The kids could get their faces painted and they were superb.

Loads of pumpkins available in a range of sizes, colours and varieties. Wheelbarrows at the ready and lots of photo opportunities.

With support from a local coffee and cake van (Further) plus a pizza van (Roccofire Pizza) it’s got it all going on!

Free entry to the patch and parking is on the roadside.

Something dark, dank and very exciting is coming to the Leeds-Liverpool canal with Yorkshire Ghost Tours.

An all-new paranautical adventure!

Led by age-old ghost tour guide, Spindleshanks McScrew, this one-hour float into Skipton’s haunted history will leave you chilled to the bone.

Skipton Ghost Cruises will be running for four days:
🏴‍☠️ Friday, 23rd October at 4:30pm and 6:00pm
🏴‍☠️ Saturday, 24th October at 3pm
🏴‍☠️ Tuesday, 27th October at 4:30pm
🏴‍☠️ Thursday, 29th October at 4:30pm

Children must be accompanied by adults and be aware there are tales of ghosts, ghouls and gruesome things!
