Here’s a selection of sights tempting you to visit the lovely Yorkshire Dales and especially the beautiful village of Burnsall on the River Wharfe, regularly featured in All Creatures Great and Small and also the star of Calendar Girls! These pics show the gorgeous reflections of the trees in the river on a evening stroll (tranquillity itself) plus the craggy rocks at Loop Scar and then the old village Stocks, where miscreants would be placed as punishment in past centuries. Interestingly, they are sited unusually, inside the village churchyard. It is believed that the churchyard boundary expanded at some point in the past, meaning they became beached in sacred ground! Last of all we have a very cheeky lamb peeping over the dry stone wall! Plenty of those around at the moment!
Come and experience it all for yourselves at lovely, cosy Fell Beck Cottage - just a mere 50 yards or so from the renowned Red Lion pub. Lots of availability still in August and beyond:

Suggested walk from Fell Beck Cottage, Burnsall. Follow the footpath from the village centre across the fields and stiles to the secret village of Thorpe and then on to lovely award winning Linton village for a delicious lunch at the pretty Fountaine Inn at Linton, before completing the return leg of this lovely circular walk along the banks of the River Wharfe from Linton Falls back to Burnsall, where a pint awaits you by the river at the Red Lion. Perfect.❤️ Here’s a 360 degree video of the long distance views from high ground just outside Linton.

We have had an unexpected cancellation at Fell Beck from 27th March for 5 nights as our clients have decided not to fly due to the unrest in the Middle East. This is one of the most perfect times for visiting the Yorkshire Dales - the lambs are about, the daffodils are out and the ducklings are starting to appear on the River Wharfe. Plus the sunshine we’ve all been awaiting for so long is starting to appear more regularly bringing balmy days and longer evenings with it. Pick up the dates here:

As February’s dull days dwindle and the sun finds new strength to melt the last snow up on the Fells, we start to see the Yorkshire Dales blossom before our eyes. Daffodils begin to replace the oh-so-delicate snowdrops and contrast with the crocuses peeping through. Soon the primroses and bluebells will start to appear on Nature’s latest canvas and the dear little lambs will begin to entertain us again, skipping across the beck and paddling in the shallows of the river or running wild and free in lamb gangs!

At Fell Beck cottage in Burnsall we have a little availability left in March and April if you hurry and more in May, when Summer really starts to kick in. Take a look:

Here’s wishing a very happy and healthy 2026 to all of our guests, past and future! Christmas and New Year have been idyllic up at Fell Beck Cottage in the Yorkshire Dales (Wharfedale.) Crisp, sunny weather providing perfect time for gentle sunny strolling along the River Wharfe to the wonderful Craven Arms in Appletreewick or the cosy Old School Tearoom in Hebden in between all the usual Christmas festivities. Fell Beck looked particularly pretty and cosy with a log fire and all the decorations up. We are now welcoming 2026 bookings! Take a look:
