The King's Arms, is the latest incarnation of several inns that have occupied this canal

side site and welcomed many a traveller, weary or otherwise. The original, in 1816, was a rough-hewn establishment called The Blue Boar but by 1874 it had been renamed The King's Arms, before it was officially called the Cat in the Window in 1959. This remained its affectionate nickname for many years, when it was later renamed the Bridgewater Hotel. Enjoy a spot of alfresco eating and drinking overlooking the Grand Union canal, dine with a difference in our opulently furnished restaurant, or cosy up to our crackling fires in the winter.

✨ Meet the Team at The King's Arms ✨

Today we'd love to introduce you to Sophia, a truly valued member of our team whose journey with us has been nothing short of inspiring.

Sophia joined The King's Arms two years ago as a Food Runner and quickly demonstrated a natural talent for hospitality. Within six months she progressed into our restaurant team, and after turning 18 earlier this year, she successfully trained behind the bar, where she has flourished ever since.

Alongside her role with us, Sophia has been studying Business, Psychology and Philosophy, balancing her academic commitments with part-time work. This autumn, she will begin an exciting new chapter at university in Nottingham, where she will continue her studies in Business Management and Marketing.

Thankfully, this isn't goodbye. Sophia will still be returning to The King's Arms during university breaks, so you'll continue to see her familiar smile from time to time.

What she loves most, however, is looking after our guests and creating cocktails. Her passion and creativity recently led her to enter "The Shake Off", a cocktail competition hosted by Premium Country Pubs. We're delighted to share that she has reached the finals with her signature creation, the Bakewell Berry.

Outside of work and studying, Sophia enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, taking part in pub quizzes, discovering new cocktails, and cuddling up with her two adorable Pomeranians, Cocoa and Cozmo.

We're incredibly proud of everything Sophia has achieved and can't wait to see what the future holds for her.
