Say Hello to Emily who is one of our lovely Nursery Apprentices and our next ‘in the frame' subject. Over the last few months Emily has gained confidence and become a caring and supportive member of the team. She sets up lovely activities for the children and comforts them throughout the day. Her apprenticeship has helped her develop a better understanding of children’s learning and development. See below to learn a little about Emily!👇☺️

1. What’s one thing you’ve learned from working with children?
I have learnt and experienced working with different ages and how their minds develop differently.

2. What’s your favourite nursery rhyme?
My favourite nursery rhyme is 5 current buns. We have knitted current buns and coins to engage the children.

3. What’s your dream holiday destination?
My dream holiday destination is disneyland, loved it there as a child and would love to go back there again someday.

4. What’s a game you loved as a child?
My favourite childhood game has to be hide and seek because I remember the time when i played hide and seek with my babysitter and no one could find me for ages had everyone worried looking for me.
I guess i won 🙌 😀

5. What’s your favourite drink?
My favourite drink is my morning caramel iced coffee, makes me feel more awake in a morning.

6. What’s an accomplishment you’re proud of?
One accomplishment i am proud of is deciding to start my apprenticeship and get experience working with children.

7. What’s your favourite theme/topic to teach?
My favourite topic to teach is art and design or anything to do with getting messy, I do like a bit of messy play as long as the children enjoy it, it’s all that matters.

🍃🌼 Natural art 🌼🍃

The Sammy Squirrels enjoyed collecting natural resources on the bunny field today for their art work. They enjoyed discussing the textures, smells and colours of the items they collected. They also used their maths skills to keep count of what they’d found and their concentration skills to complete their art work! 🪵🌿

Some of our younger children engaged within a new mark making activity…upside down artwork!

What this activity did:
🎨built core strength as they engaged their tummy muscles to create the marks above their heads.

🎨helped strengthen shoulders as they are reaching up high.

🎨created a new way to hold the mark making tools which also strengthens little hands ready for writing

🎨encouraged lots of chatter and discussion between the adults and children and between the children themselves

🎨allows the children to be creative and imaginative in a new way

🎨encouraged turn taking and sharing of the resources…these amazing 2 year olds did this independently too!!!

Things the children said as they did this…
‘I like purple’ ‘my like green’ ‘your hiding, silly’
‘I draw stripes’ ‘this bit is my mummy’ ‘my draw too’
