Ye Olde Bargate’s WM WB Rob King was last night affiliated into his now local lodge in Scotland and gave this account of the evening.
For me I think this sums up the fraturnal and welcoming nature of Freemasonry.

As with many things in Freemasonry last night was no exception.
Join a Craft Lodge get a tie. Join the Royal Arch get a new tie. Join Mark get a new tie. Last night I affiliated into St Thomas (Muirkirk) lodge 201 and yes for those who are wondering I got a new tie!
I was invited to sit in the east with 6 other ruling Right Worshipful Masters plus the provincial Grand Master of Ayrshire RWPGM James Bell. Masters of Caledonian St John 195, St John 497, Dunlop Caledonia 1408, Lochindaal 1592, Burns Dundonald 1759, Meridian 1779
All of the Brethren were asking about Ye Olde Bargate Lodge and inviting myself and the Brethren of YOBL to visit their respective Lodges. The ceremony was a fantastic first degree. I took an obligation presented by the Brother Secretary. When the ceremony concluded the brethren retired from the lodge with great enthusiasm towards consuming drams of whiskey as soon as possible 🥃

WM Rob King on his recent visit to Lodge St David (Tarbolton) Mauchline No 133 in Ayrshire Scotland

This historic Lodge was the Mother Lodge of Robert Burns.

Rob reports that he was warmly welcomed and had a fantastic evening visiting on behalf of Ye Olde Bargate Lodge

Monday 10th March 2025 at Southampton Masonic Centre Tyle at 6:15pm

The menu for this evening will be Leek and potato soup, Pork Chop, boiled potatoes and vegetable, Upside down apple sponge
cake, and Cheese board and is £21.00 per head

The Rough Ashlar was not a stone that was merely picked up somewhere.
It was a stone that has been selected. Some work was done upon it. It was apparently a good stone.
It was a stone that showed good prospects of being capable of being made into a Perfect Ashlar.
If it had not been a good stone, it would never have been cut out from the quarry.

In changing a Rough Ashlar into a Perfect Ashlar, the workman takes away and never adds to.
He chips and chips. He cuts away the rough edges.
He removes the visible flaws, he does not create by chemical means or otherwise, a new material. He takes that which is already there and develops it into the Perfect Ashlar.
