Hi All
Due to circumstsances beyond our control we have to move the event to a new location. We have secured camping pitches at The Owl Box Eco Camping Site, about a 1/4 mile a way from the orginal venue.
However, this means there is no club house and there are no fridges. The "ablution block" is really nice and clean, 5 toilets and one shower. Contary to a few reports on line, the owner is more than happy to have the genny running longer than the advertised times so we can all have a shower. There are charging points and electric points.
Campers :
As there are no fridges we advise you bring cooler boxes. We will provide ice and buckets for keeping beers etc cold on Saturday. There will be a couple of drum braais, it might be handy if anyone has space in the car for a couple of more, if not, please take turns and braai 2nds once everyone has got food 🙂 We have purchased enough charcoal for Saturday, you will need to bring or buy your own for the other days if you are camping for the weekend. Worth noting there are plenty of takeaways in both St Agnes and Perranporth - Indians, Chinese, Thai, Pizzas and Burgers to name a few not fogetting Fish & Chip takeways in both villages. There is also a Spar and Nisa which open at 7am, 2 veg shops, 2 bakeries and a butchers in St Agnes (about 1/4 mile away.) 4 miles away in Perranporth there are 2 co-ops and a butchers, so there is no need to come down to Cornwall ladened with food. The owner is cordoning off the whole middle of the site for us. We suggest we camp in a horseshoe type shape and have the braai at the top. Please also bear in mind we are sharing this site with other holiday makers, so please be mindful of loud noise once it gets late. Touches etc will be necessary once it gets dark. From a H & S point, It would be good to have all braais / skottles in the braai area and not outside individual tents. Its also more sociable 🙂 There is a wash up area, we will provide washing up liquid and bin bags. The water is mains water and drinkable, you may want to bring your own if you are in any doubt.
Day Visitors :
There is a massive layby next to the camp site, it is big enough to take about 10 cars, please can you park there if there is space in the first instant before looking for space in the field. Likewise if you have a braai, and its portable, could you please bring it.
General :
We are providing charcal for the braai on Sat and some wood for the fire pit. THere will be lots of loo rolls and hand santiser. Please bring your own braai tongs. Anyone that fancies bringing a salad, please do, there will be a couple provided. You will need to bring deck chairs of some description to sit on.
I am sad to say that NO dogs are allowed on site, so please leave your 4 legged friends at home and we will see them next year when we will be able to go back to Scrimshaws.
And last but not least ... the weather forecast for the next 10 days in Cornwall is looking something like it should ... sun, sun and more sun .. we might need some garden umbrellas if thats the case 🙂 Looking forward to seeing everyone and some good old fashioned SA / Zim humour ... safe drives to all that are travelling down to Cornwall .. ###Hi All
