Even on warm days like we have this weekend, the water around our coast remains cold — which can quickly affect your body if you’re not prepared.

Whether you’re paddling, swimming or setting off on a board, please take extra care.

✅ Acclimatise before jumping in
✅ Wear a wetsuit if you’re planning to stay in
✅ Know your limits — and look out for each other

🌊 🌞 Heading to the coast this weekend? Have fun, make memories — but please stay safe.

• If you get into trouble in the water: Float to Live

* Tilt your head back, with your ears submerged
* Relax and try to breathe normally
* Move your hands and feet to help you stay afloat
* It’s fine if your legs sink, we all float differently
* Leave inflatables at home—offshore winds can whisk them away before you know it

• In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Ian and I would just like to pass on a huge Thank You to Andrew and Annie Spark for the meal and overnight accommodation we successfully bid for at the RBRB auction earlier this summer. They were the most welcoming of hosts, the cottage was cosy and beautifully presented and the meal was truly excellent. We heartily recommend it and will be bidding everyone up on it next year if it comes onto the list again. A beautiful cottage with a fabulous view in a beautiful area with lots to explore. Remote location so you do need a car - although lots of walks around from the cottage. Quiet. Comfortable. Fabulous shower. Well equipped. Lovely deck. Light and airy. We loved it here. The top bathroom is a bit small with a very short bath - this didn't affect our stay I only mention for larger groups there's only 1 shower in the property. The kitchen area is lovely - stylish and well equipped. Wooden floors throughout. Again, just a mention, access by steps and stairs are quite steep which you need to consider if you have mobility issues. Our only disappointment was having to leave!!
