During the summer I have always left a little vase of Cosmos blooms to welcome guests, grown in my polytunnel.

Sadly, the Cosmos season is coming to an end, so guests will have to make do with the views (and perhaps some home baking, if I have been busy in the kitchen!).

A little 'welcome back' gift for the guests arriving today. They first stayed with us back in July and were such lovely guests!

With the prospect of cooler weather, we thought it might be time for the woodburner and toasted marshmallows 🔥

The blue skies may be getting less frequent but there is still plenty to enjoy at Hare Hut! We have lovely cafés, galleries and historic attractions within 10 minutes' drive of the hut.
It's the perfect location for a little break in Central Scotland!

The skies are still blue but the shadows are getting longer, as the sun's maximum altitude above the southern horizon dips to 35.7°. In the depths of a Stirlingshire winter it will only reach a maximum of 10.4°.

Before too long, it will be a time to coorie up, toast marshmallows in the logburner and drink hot chocolate. Stirling Book Nook, have you got any recommendations for a good book to curl up with?

Today felt much more autumnal.
A slight chill in the air and ripening apples in the orchard next to Hare Hut herald the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness.

Alongside the Hare Hut, we have an orchard and polytunnel. We planted the orchard with Scottish heritage apples (including 'Stirling Castle' , 'Bloody Ploughman' and 'Cambusnethan Pippin').

The polytunnel is a work in progress!
Excited to get my new seeds from Seeds of Scotland
These seeds are grown, harvested, processed and packed by hand on small, independent organic and agro-ecological farms across Scotland.
