We had the most wonderful evening seeing Jules Hudson at The Blake Theatre, Monmouth, giving a talk about his new book Wild at Heart with his friend Nick from Wells & Walsingham Light Railway. It was really interesting and entertaining hearing about the influences on Jules’ life, and how he came to be a presenter on our favourite programme Escape To The Country! Jules is our favourite presenter and he’s just as lovely and down-to-earth in real life as he is on the telly.

We also made lovely new friends with the couple sat next to us, who were over from Australia visiting all the gorgeous places they’d seen on Escape to the Country!

We were excited to find this locally made damson jam (homemade by our friends at Ley Farm Cottages) when we popped into Daisy’s Dairy for our regular milkshake treat. Both jam and milkshake were udderly delicious! 😋

Here’s a first look at the full English breakfast now available at Kings Arms Inn Stockland on Saturdays from 8.30-10.30, so you can still enjoy a lie-in first at Ferndale Cottage Devon. It includes bottomless tea and coffee, a choice of eggs, fresh fruit and granola and a fresh bread basket with local jams and honey. This Crandon’s Gold honey is from the farm just down the road - doesn’t it make it taste even better knowing it’s so local! 😋

Exciting news! Kings Arms Inn Stockland opposite Ferndale Cottage Devon is now offering takeaway fish and chips or pie and mash on Tues - Sat evenings! Fancy a cooked breakfast but can’t be bothered to cook? Just step over the road to the Kings for their breakfast on Saturday mornings. We can’t wait to try their cream teas on Saturday afternoons!

P.S. the takeaway fish and chips were sublime! 😋
