The Duke of Wellington Inn is nestled in the Tyne Valleys village of Newton just off the A69 near Corbridge, within easy access to Newcastle, Hadrian's Wall Country, Hexham, and Northumberland's National Park. The décor reflects the traditional country inn history but with a modern twist. The existing oak and stone has been enhanced with modern colours, furniture and fabrics. Food is served seven days a week in the dining room or in the bar area. The food provides traditional British comfort eating to an exceptional standard and makes use of local, seasonal ingredients. A comprehensive range of beers and ales compliments an extensive wine list. The inn experience continues with seven bedrooms consisting of 6 double rooms and 1 twin room, providing a very high quality of luxury accommodation. 2 of the double rooms are dog-friendly. The outstanding views across the Tyne valley provide the ultimate conclusion to a visit to The Duke of Wellington which will stay with you long after you leave.

Our Christmas Day lunch starts with fizz and canapés on arrival. Then choose from dishes like pancetta roast turkey with pigs in blankets, rib of beef, or Norwegian halibut with langoustine bisque, finished with Christmas pudding and petits fours. £130 per person.

Our Bar Snacks menu has had a little update 🍺

Two old favourites are back: a hand raised pork pie with apple sauce, and nachos with guacamole, sour cream and sriracha. They join halloumi fries, jalapeño poppers, mac & cheese bites, loaded potato skins and more.

When is a pizza not a pizza? When it's a pinsa 🍕
Pinsa is an oval Roman flatbread with a lighter, airier dough than a traditional pizza. Our Italian chef Raymondo brought it to the Duke, and it's been a favourite ever since.
Choose from pepperoni & hot honey, prosciutto & burrata, sun blushed tomato & mozzarella, or garlic, mozzarella & pesto. Any pinsa with a house drink is £12.

Charity Race Night comes to the Duke on Friday 23 October from 7pm, all in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

Entry is free, and there’s plenty to get stuck into: bet on the horses, sponsor a race or own a horse, plus a lottery, an auction and spot prizes. Happy hour runs from 6 to 8pm, and our pie, peas & mash supper is £10.

It usually sells out, so book early on our website via the link in our bio.

We're taking part in Hexham & Tynedale Restaurant Week! 🍽️ From 5th-11th October we're serving a special menu: 2 courses for £25 or 3 for £30.
Think twice baked coastal cheddar & Northumbrian leek soufflé, steamed Shetland mussels, chalk stream trout with a scallop & prawn samosa, pan seared lamb's liver and lemon posset with hedgerow compote.
