👑🐾 THE HAIRCUT OF THE GODDESSES 🐾👑

There comes a time every year when you have to accept that autumn is here, winter is coming… and owning a Newfoundland on a farm is about to become an extreme sport. 🤣

Our gorgeous Harper is, without question, a HUGE muck magnet.

Mud, straw, leaves, twigs, burrs and quite possibly half of Intake Farm seem to attach themselves effortlessly to those magnificent Newfoundland locks. 😂

So, in preparation for the wet and muddy months ahead, the beautiful flowing tresses have been sheared.

Practical? Absolutely.

Elegant? Debatable. 🤣

Harper is currently sporting what can only be described as the Haircut of the Goddesses — slightly less Newfoundland supermodel and slightly more freshly clipped farmhand. 😂❤️

She may have lost some of her feathers, but thankfully none of her dignity…

Actually, looking at her face, we might have lost a little bit of that too. 🤣🤣

The good news is there’s now considerably less dog available for the mud to stick to.

The bad news?

Harper will undoubtedly see that as a challenge. 🤦‍♀️🐾😂

As one chapter closes, another begins…

The last couple of weeks at Intake Farm have brought quite a few changes — some happy, some a little bittersweet, but all part of the ever-turning wheel of farm life.

We’ve waved goodbye to Sylvie, Black Beauty, Lady Secret, Bluey and Jasmine, who have left us to begin a new adventure together in their lovely forever home. 🐐❤️

Rosa’s piglets have grown up too, and after all those weeks of tiny snouts, squeaks, mischief and muddy noses, they’ve now left home to begin their next chapter. 🐷

But, as is so often the way in farming, while some leave, others arrive…

And so we welcomed a new man into our lives — Percy, our very handsome Whitefaced Woodland ram. 🐏🤍

Percy has joined us as we begin thinking about the next generation, and elsewhere on the farm the billy goats are busy doing much the same! 😳😂

Autumn may officially be here, but the grass certainly hasn’t received the memo. With the mild weather it continues to grow, the animals continue to graze, and farm life keeps moving forward.

And perhaps that’s one of the loveliest — and sometimes hardest — things about farming.

Nothing stays exactly the same.

Livestock move through the farm. Babies are born, youngsters grow, some animals move on to new homes and new bloodlines arrive. Fields change, seasons turn and before you’ve quite finished one chapter, the beginnings of the next are already quietly taking shape.

There’s always a moment of sadness when familiar faces leave, but there’s excitement too in wondering what the coming months will bring.

So, as we head further into autumn, it feels a little like the beginning of a new era at Intake Farm.

New faces.
New beginnings.
Hopefully some new little faces to look forward to in the months ahead. ❤️

What a day at Intake Farm! ❤️

One of those days when you finally stop, look back and realise just how much has happened.

🦃 The Christmas turkeys have arrived and are settling into their new home.

🍎 Apples have been picked in abundance — baskets and baskets of them!

🍏 And those apples have gone from tree to bottle, with our own freshly pressed apple juice flowing today. There is something rather special about seeing food grown here on the farm, picked by hand and turned into something delicious.

🐷 As if that wasn’t enough excitement, we’ve also welcomed some gorgeous new piglets to the farm.

But days like today simply wouldn’t happen without people mucking in, getting stuck in and helping us make it all work.

A huge thank you to Grace and Charlie, Max and Keith for your amazing help today. ❤️

Tired bodies, full hearts, lots achieved and another wonderful day of farm life behind us.

Now it’s finally time to put our feet up and rest!

Good things grow here — and not just the apples. 🌳❤️

We've got a name for our baby llama!

After a very long wait (sorry, but the Summer has been a very busy at Intake Farm ) we've finally decided what to name this little chap.

Meet Scout - named after Tonto’s horse from the Lone Ranger and chosen by the children who attended the penultimate Simpli.life HAF session.

Thank you everyone who's came up with ideas! They were all brilliant and it was a very hard choice to make. 🦙💚

🌞 FREE SPACES STILL AVAILABLE! 🌿💚

We still have a few spaces available for Summer on the Farm Tuesday, 1–5pm — and HAF-eligible children can attend FREE!

It's been wonderful seeing the children who have joined us so far getting stuck in, meeting the animals, exploring the farm, making friends and trying new things. 🐴🐑🌳

If your child would love an afternoon of animals, nature, outdoor activities, creativity and fun, we'd love to welcome them to the farm!
