Stonehaven Heated Open Air Pool was officially opened for the 2026 season this morning and we were there for our first dook of the year!

Who else is planning to visit this season? NO BOOKING REQUIRED (except for Midnight swims) just turn up and jump in! The water is lovely 🥰

We went on a wee staycation ourselves last weekend spending a couple of nights in Portsoy at Cozy Coastal Cottages. We noticed lots of similarities between both locations - not just the fab self catering accommodation!

Lighthouses, Dolphin Sculptures, Historic Harbours, Castles, Outdoor Pools, Fish & Chips, Ice Cream, fantastic independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
Wherever you stay you just cant beat the seaside!

We're on the countdown to the Midsummer Beer Happening 2026

Team Bayview will be volunteering for Home-Start South Aberdeenshire on the Thursday, Piping with Dunnottar Pipes and Drums on the Friday and cycling the Redo on the Saturday.
We might even manage a few beers along the way 😉🤣

The Penthouse has already been booked by returning guests enjoying their 4th beer festival with us but we have availaBEERity in The Haven.

We’re on the countdown to Stonehaven Heated Open Air Pool opening for the season on Saturday 30th May, but this weekend we visited another beautiful Art Deco pool at Tarlair near Macduff.

It was impossible not to notice the similarities between Tarlair and Stonehaven - both much loved seawater pools that hold a special place in their communities and bring back so many memories of summers by the sea.

They were both built during the golden age of seaside lidos and outdoor swimming in the 1930s with Tarlair opening in 1931 and Stonehaven in 1934.

Whilst Stonehaven Pool has remained open, Tarlair sadly closed in 1995. However Friends Of Tarlair are undertaking a conservation plan with the cafe, roof terrace and workshop already completed. We’d love to see this iconic pool brought back into full use one day and hope it won’t be too long before people are once again swimming at Tarlair.

A 19 month old guest pointed out what was missing from The Penthouse 🙈

We’ve always thought we were well kitted out for kids and families with high chair, travel cot, toys, games, books, plastic crockery and cutlery but a recent young guest told us we had NO BATH TOYS so she had to use our plastic animals 🦏🦒🐘🐅🦍🐆

A quick visit to RNLI Stonehaven and we’re sorted with a couple of additions - Lifeguard Lucy and a Let’s Splash bath book. I do hope she approves!
