🏔️ Calling all Peak District climbers! 🧗

We love welcoming climbing groups to Wayside in Stoney Middleton, and it’s always fantastic to hear feedback like this. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you’re planning a climbing trip to the Peak District, Wayside is perfectly placed with many of the area’s best crags only minutes away from our front door. There’s plenty of room for your ropes, pads and climbing gear, comfortable beds to recover after a day on the rock, a spacious kitchen, and a large dining table and TV room to relax together in the evening.

We’re also just a short drive from shops, pubs and everything you need for a great climbing weekend.

A very important lesson for those visiting the area ⬇️

Do you know the difference between a Bakewell Pudding and a Bakewell Tart? 🤔✨

Our iconic Bakewell Pudding is the original recipe dating back to the 1860s 🇬🇧💫 It was actually meant to be a strawberry jam tart, but a happy accident changed everything! Instead of mixing the egg and almond mixture into the jam, it was layered over the top! Creating a puff pastry base, a rich layer of jam, and a beautifully soft almond topping 💛

The Bakewell Tart came a little later and is just as delicious 😍 It features a shortcrust pastry base, a layer of jam, and a firm almond frangipane topping! Either finished with icing and a cherry 🍒 or a flaky almond topping for that perfect cake-like bite 🎂✨

Whichever you prefer, you can always count on us to serve them fresh in our café ☕🍰, from our gift shop 🎁, or deliver them straight to your door anywhere in the world 🌍📦!

We’ve had hedgehogs 🦔, we’ve had frogs 🐸and now we have honey bees🐝 …..but not for much longer!

This evening local bee keepers have visited Wayside, Peak District to take the swarm of bees that loved our cottage so very much, to their new home. Apparently it is swarming season and they never know where they’re going to be called to pick bees up from next ☺️🐝

We love wildlife, but we do promise our guests full exclusivity during their stay and we’d like to keep it that way.

There are nine operas this year plus concerts including The Tallis Scholars, The King’s Singers, Benjamin Grosvenor, Toby Spence, Imogen Cooper and The English Concert.
