I thought it was time for a photo of Shawbost, taken last April, to replace the previous cover photo. Some wonderful surfing guests have just left heading off on the long road back to the south of England. Have a safe journey guys. They report having an excellent time with great conditions for their sport, though they were so tired they were in bed by 9 each night. What else are holidays for? Nearly that time of year again. There is a lot of interest from people who have been watching Katie Morag and who want to visit the area where it was shot and to see life on a working croft.

After all the aurora excitement it is time for some more Spring photos to get us in the mood for longer days. These show your host at Dollag's Cottage out working at sheep and also the view from her office. They were taken in April 2013 only a short walk from the cottage.

I don't think this needs much description - the Northern Lights and Callanish Stone Circle last night. A spectacular photo. It seems there are people who go to places other than Lewis for their holidays.

A really spectacular aurora show last night, brightest I've seen yet. Seeing it directly pulsing and dancing directly over our heads was pretty unbelievable. The Clouds rolled over us and ended it a little early but a great night out with sandiephotos.com and M+M Morrison Photography :)

Sharing this photo from Lewis tonight for all the friends of the cottage - the next 12 months might be the last chance to see auroras like this in our lifetimes so don't miss out!

With Spring just around the corner I thought to post some photos taken around the cottage in April last year. April and May are often great months in the Hebrides, in fact they are the favorite months of many, and we still have a few weeks free in the cottage during the Spring though you'll need to be fast if you fancy a break in the best, and best value, holiday accommodation on the island.

It was impossible to decide between the two of these so you are getting both of them. These were taken on a lovely autumn day out on the northern part of the Barvas Moor. Although the summer months are completely booked there is still some autumn availability so why not come to Dollag's Cottage and see for yourself?
