Surrounded by beautiful landscapes and Scottish history, giving easy access to all Scottish locations, Irish locations, and North West England. We also accept rallies in our dedicated Rally area. Our site is equipped with numerous electric hook-up points covering both grass & hard standing areas for Caravans & Motorhomes. We do not

have electric hook-ups for tents. Local services are located 1 mile from the site which include Supermarkets, Railway Station, Marina, Leisure facilities and the local town centre. The Surrounding area also has activities such as Horse Riding, Fishing, Clay Pigeon shooting, Paint Balling and much more.

“Our campsite has been in the same family since the 1960s when it was opened and operated by family members. While we are situated in a town, we have created an environment that provides an oasis of the countryside while still only one mile from the town centre. We’ve planted over 5000 trees to provide shelter from the elements and the nearby town. This also provides natural areas for many species of wildlife and birds. We’re not managers or employees, we are a family, and we love what we do.”

AnDid you know Stranraer has its own little Castle?
Castle of St. John.
The Castle of St John sits in a prominent position in the centre of Stranraer. Built in the sixteenth century this is a particularly fine example of the type of tower house built and used by Scottish Lairds in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The Castle of St John was built around 1500 by the Adairs of Kilhilt, one of the most powerful families in Wigtownshire. In the late 1670s it was used as a military garrison for the government troops commanded by John Graham of Claverhouse. In the Victorian period it was used as a jail. The fascinating story of the Castle and its many inhabitants can be found in the exhibitions on site. Costumed interpreters on special events days. See the Stranraer Museum page for more details.

Not Rocket science. The Drive over drain is just that. You drive over the drain to empty your grey/waste water down it. Just randomly dumping the waste water in the approximate area and hoping it reaches the drain is not acceptable.

One of Scotland’s hidden treasures for almost 300 years. These important historical Gardens, situated on an isthmus, consist of 300ha (75 acres) of sculptured landscapes, and magnificent avenues radiating out from the iconic Castle Kennedy ruins. Described as ‘one of the showpieces of Galloway’, it is one of Scotland's most important historical landscaped gardens with its collection of Rhododendrons, Championship Trees and rare species.
The Gardens are extensively landscaped with terraces, mounds and avenues, all of which were created by the 2nd Earl of Stair in the 1730s with the men and horses of the Royal Scots Greys and the Inniskilling Fusiliers. They extend to more than 30 hectares (75 acres).
The Gardens are perfect for exploring and provides a fun day out for families, with a charming Tea Room, Gift Shop and Plant Centre.

We warmly welcome you to the Gardens and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Still no burning things. What rain we had, is not enough. No Fire pits, Wood or charcoal BBQ, etc. Basically nothing that burns stuff. Gass fired is ok though.

A very high wildfire warning is in place for Eastern Highlands, Eastern and Southern Scotland from today (Wednesday, 12 August) until Thursday, 13 August.

Everyone should avoid lighting outdoor fires or barbecues. A single spark can cause significant damage, and there is no such thing as a harmless fire.

You can help prevent the risk of wildfires by sharing this post with your family, friends, and any visitors or tourists.

If you see an outdoor fire, call 999 immediately. Give the location and any other relevant information so we can respond quickly.
