June in Orkney is something else.
The Arctic terns are back, just returned from the Antarctic and already diving the harbour for sand eels like they never left. The Scottish primrose is out along the coastal grassland, tiny and purple, and you won't find it anywhere else in the world except here and the very top of the Scottish mainland. And the sun doesn't set until just after ten, and by midsummer the sky barely goes fully dark.
If you've been thinking about an Orkney trip, there's genuinely no better month for it.
