Our two-day Woodland Management course returns to Voltaire’s Wood this October.

Led by experienced woodland practitioners and ecologists, including a Woodland Trust specialist and a former Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust woodland manager, the course combines practical fieldwork with the science, planning and economics of looking after a wood well.

Across the two days we’ll cover:
• reading a woodland
• soils and habitat mapping
• coppicing and ride management
• veteran trees
• biodiversity
• management plans
• Countryside Stewardship and grants
• tree felling, extraction and processing
• the real costs, and potential income, of running a wood
Suitable for complete beginners, new woodland owners, land managers and conservation professionals.

Tuition, handouts, fieldwork, tea, coffee and biscuits included, with optional free camping in the woods.
