Swallow Barn is a 2 person holiday let in a peaceful rural location in Suffolk. We are dog friendly.

Swallow Barn is an individual converted barn nestling deep in the Suffolk countryside. The barn has been designed to cater for practicality without compromising on quality and cosiness. As dog owners ourselves we know how difficult it can be to find somewhere that will take dogs and not everyone wants to leave their dog behind at the kennels as they are after all part of the family! The barn has a private garden and in addition guests can enjoy shared access to our private meadow with pond behind the property. The area is a real haven for wildlife and bird watchers can enjoy watching the nesting swallows practice ducking and diving over the field in the cool of the evening. You may also see a deer graze in the field and the occasional magical barn owl. If you like seeing hares then the early spring and summer months find them in abundance in the nearby fields. We can also offer a variety of lovely walks across unspoilt countryside where you can enjoy peace and solitude. We are approximately 20 minutes drive from the historic town of Bury St Edmunds. Stowmarket is approximately 20 minutes away and from there it is approximately an hour by train to London Liverpool Street. We have an abundance of good eateries and old pubs offering everything from comfort food to fine dining. Suffolk is a haven for the arts and still houses many lovely independent shops and with so many things to do we can't wait to share this beautiful area with you.

These two🥰 Millie and Meg have just got back from a fantastic week in the barn. They explored the scent of pheasants and deer in the garden and enjoyed exploring our meadow at the back of the property. Bookings still available www.wyverstoneplough.com

One of the truly awesome things about Suffolk is the wonderful sky. Another is this truly lovely 5 star review from a recent guest :-

‘Rosie and Richard are two of the kindest, most thoughtful, dog loving people you could ever wish to meet and this is reflected in the quality, care and attention to detail that goes into creating Swallow Barn as a superb dog and human friendly experience. You don't often find a 'dog friendly' stay that is truly dog friendly, not just dog tolerant, that's also comfortable and enjoyable for humans too - Swallow Barn is excellent for both.On arrival we received a warm welcome from Rosie, and I was thrilled that there were towels, dog treats, toys, dog tags, p**p bags, and a good quality throw allowing for the dogs to be on the sofa. I was grateful for the separate freezer in the store for my frozen dog food which made life even easier. The enclosed garden was a haven for my two dogs who loved mooching about and watching and listening to the abundant wildlife nearby, as did I. And we had access to the field beyond to explore more. There were plenty of footpaths nearby which were accessible, with dog p**p bins conveniently located along the lane. To top it off, when I unexpectedly needed to visit the Out of Hours GP service, Rosie jumped into action to organise dog care (thanks Richard), and she drove me to the surgery, which I was sooo grateful for. The only problem was we were having such a laugh on the way that it hurt even more! Thank you for creating this wonderful space and sharing it with us. Rosie's art on the walls was another nice touch. Will be back.’

‘A lovely relaxing place to stay. No traffic, beautiful starry nights (even in February) and lovely local dog walks. The Bacton Bull https://www.thebullatbacton.co.uk/ was also a treat. Lucky to have s decent pub in walking distance. Great stay.’

An evenings walk yesterday beautiful wild flower margins and no one in sight. Such peace can be yours. A few days left in August and then thinking about Autumn breaks. 4 day minimum dogs welcome.

This is my darling Sonny and something of how we ended up here; guardians of a reactive dog who was highly sensitive to people AND other dogs. What to do with such a dog when you want to have a holiday?

We so know what that feels like! So maybe I can reassure you as Swallow Barn has it’s own secure garden and access to our own private field so, if you really can’t face walking the largely quiet footpaths you can walk around our field secure in the knowledge they won’t be triggered.

In the past we have put ‘signals’ in place with our guests to indicate their dog is out so we need to keep ours inside for a bit. It so helps with the guilt to know you and your pooch have understanding hosts by your side

This is such a gorgeous time of year at Swallow Barn. The best of days when a gentle breeze shows the beauty of the grasses and buttercups waving against the comforting sound of the birds and bees. Still some dates available for Summer, 4 day minimum. See our website for details.

Spring is coming. Spectacular dog walk last night saw Little Owl, Barn owl, deer and hares in the evening sun. Why not book a break in beautiful Suffolk?
