A Morning in Swanage

There’s something rather lovely about a morning in Swanage.

A quiet walk along the seafront, a coffee while watching the boats come and go, and that first glimpse of the sea before the town really gets going.

We’re lucky to call Swanage home, and one of the things we love most is that even after all this time, there are still little corners of Purbeck that make us stop and think, “We really do live somewhere special.”

If you’re staying with us, don’t be afraid to ask for our local recommendations. We’re always happy to point you towards a favourite walk, a good coffee, the best beach for a particular day, or somewhere nice for dinner.

Sometimes the best holiday memories are the little things you didn’t find in the guidebook.

A Steam-Filled Weekend in Swanage

There’s something rather magical about hearing a steam train whistle echo through Purbeck.

From Friday 11th to Sunday 13th September, the Swanage Railway Autumn Steam Gala is taking place, bringing a whole weekend of steam trains, nostalgia and wonderful railway atmosphere to Swanage.

With trains travelling through the beautiful Purbeck countryside between Swanage, Corfe Castle and Norden, it’s a lovely way to enjoy some of the area while experiencing a little piece of railway history.

September is also one of our favourite times of year here. The summer crowds are starting to ease, the evenings have that first hint of autumn, and there’s still plenty of opportunity to enjoy the coast, countryside, walks and everything else that makes Purbeck so special.
