Tom's Field Campsite & Shop set in a fold of the landscape about 20 mins walk from the coastal path and Dancing Ledge. The site is boundaried by old stonewalling and has been a campsite for about 55 years, this makes it one of the older more traditional campsites without club rooms or even children's playground, however the children seem to enjoy themselves well enough without!

Yesterday there was the last of children activity workshops, they made Flicker Books!
In a week or so we are planning an exhibition of Photos, of the locality ,taken by Jasmin Archer and a display of the Stone Wall Drawings made by campers in 2013. Sixty people took part from the age of 3 to 83 and all were included in a little fold out book, some of you may remember making the drawings? They have all been carefully preserved

Sitting on the terrace a couple of weeks ago was thinking how the hawthorne has grown so much, the one that was there from many years ago had been magnificent and this newer one is doing well, due to hot weather all berries seem to be a lot earlier everywhere , the trees feel a bit desparate.

Butterfly and moth experts have said that 2026 could be a bumper year for hummingbird hawk-moths in the UK after a boom in sightings during recent weeks. Hot weather and strong winds appear to have brought many of the insects here from more southerly climes.30 Jul 2026, there have been many sightings on Tom's Field Campsite Terrace. It was so good to sit on the seat outside the shop and breathe the perfume from the lavender and look at sunlit fields.

Still have to be very aware that those fields are very dry which is why we have needed to stop the use of BBqs for the time being.
