Swanage Carnival is back! Things are really back to normal now, here are a few photos I took of the opening night fireworks from the jetty near Swanage Lifeboat Station.

It's been a busy few months for us. We are back serving a proper traditional breakfast to all our guests and the 'Great British Staycation' is still very much here.

We really don't have much availability remaining for the summer and sadly a long-time regular has just had to cancel their carnival stay due to illness. This means we have an ensuite double available from 28th July until 12th August (minimum stay of 4 nights) and costs £90 per night including breakfast.

If you are thinking of visiting Swanage between now and the end of September you really don't have long left before we (and everyone else) fill up completely.

Finally, just in case you need a reminder of how lovely this area is, here's a picture we took when we visited the 'Cake House' in East Creech recently. We parked at Corfe Castle and walked there, about an hour and a half circular walk, and the nicest tea and cake we have had for a long time.

Swyre Head (or Heavens Gate) must be the best view of all, 360-degree views of Kimmeridge, Portland, St Aldhelms Head, Corfe, Poole Harbour and the entire Purbeck area.

Now that all legal restrictions have been lifted and we feel ready to live with COVID, we have decided to resume 'normal' breakfast service!

Supermoon....

I went out with the camera last night to see if I could capture an interesting shot of the super moon.

Unfortunately, I didn't find 'the' shot I had hoped for but ended up with a nice sunset, amazing what you see when you turn around!

No plug for Millbrook Bed and Breakfast here I did that yesterday, just enjoy the photos, Swanage Bay looked lovely under the moonlight.

We've been enjoying the enforced downtime by visiting lots of local places and being tourists. We visited Charmouth a few weeks back and Kimmeridge this weekend and as always found and saw plenty of fossils. We have also visited Kingston Lacey and Badbury Rings and are going to make the most of the last few weeks of enforced shut down and continue to visit all those places we recommend to you when you stay with us here at Millbrook Bed & Breakfast.

We are counting down the days to the reopening date, the17th May. There has not been a mad rush to book, but a nice and steady stream of bookings, with most being for longer periods of time than a normal year, with the uncertainty surrounding foreign travel the staycation is very much the choice of most this year.

Swanage is very much open and ready for business as are we, it's our job to say it we know, but now really is the time to book your stay for this summer before it's too late and those dates you had in mind are gone. We will be continuing to follow COVID guidelines for the remainder of this season to ensure everyone feels safe and secure and hope to be able to throw the shackles off completely for 2022 when we can get back to something like the 'old normal'!

We are looking forward to the 17th May, the day when we can finally reopen to guests. So far this year we have had a steady flow of bookings for this season, but as people may not be able to travel abroad, or don't wish to, the bookings are for longer stays than normal.

This means that it is starting to get more difficult for you to book the stay you may wish to have, if we are not allowed to travel abroad this year, you can be certain Swanage is going to be high on everyone's wish list.

Many of our guests often go on cruise holidays and see the world, at the moment that's not possible, but why not come and stay at Millbrook and see the cruise ships!

I took this photo yesterday of Swanage Bay and the six cruise ships at anchor (Allure of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas, Aurora, Anthem of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas & Westerdam). Since earlier this year there have been cruise liners anchored in the bay, swapping between here and Weymouth/Portland and other south coast locations whilst they await a return to more normal times.

In order to reopen safely and to be approved by the local council we had to achieve our ‘We’re Good To Go’ accreditation from ‘Visit Britain’ and, as can be seen throughout our website (www.millbrookbedandbreakfast.co.uk), you can see that we have this. However, we also applied for the AA’s ‘COVID Confident’ scheme to gain further approvals and to test our risk assessments and procedures thoroughly.

Today we have received confirmation of this accreditation which further strengthens our confidence in our working practices and should also help you feel confident in choosing Millbrook Bed & Breakfast for your next stay.

We have reduced our minimum stay to 3 nights (and where gaps allow; 2 nights). This means that if you are wanting a quick getaway to Swanage then we have plenty of options available throughout most of August.
