Funding for Rural Community & Education Projects (UK)

The NFU Mutual Charitable Trust offers grants for initiatives that support charities in the UK working in agriculture and rural development. The Trustees are particularly interested in initiatives that meet the following criteria:

- Advance the education of the public using research and dissemination of information about agriculture
- Advance the education of young people within rural areas
- Relieve poverty within rural areas
- Promote the benefit and social welfare of rural community inhabitants by associating with the inhabitants and local authorities, voluntary and other organisations to advance education and leisure.
- Promote research into agriculture-associated activities
- Advance the education of the public using research and dissemination of information in relation to insurance provided that the charity may also promote, facilitate and support any such other purposes as are exclusively charitable according to the laws of England and Wales

Grants range from £1,000 to £75,000. Larger grants are used to support organisations that significantly impact rural communities nationally.

Projects funded in the past have ranged from City farms, Federations of Young Farmers Clubs and farming Community Networks.

The next closing date for applications is 9 October 2026 to be considered in the December 2026 meeting.

Climate and Nature Action Plan | Cynllun Gweithredu Hinsawdd a Natur

Wales has begun work on its first Climate and Nature Action Plan, tackling climate change and nature loss as one connected challenge.

A new Climate and Nature Board, chaired by Llyr Gruffydd, will help shape action towards net zero by 2040 and nature recovery by 2050.

Mae gwaith wedi dechrau ar Gynllun Gweithredu Hinsawdd a Natur cyntaf Cymru, i fynd i'r afael â'r argyfwng hinsawdd a natur fel un her gysylltiedig.

Bydd Bwrdd Hinsawdd a Natur newydd, dan gadeiryddiaeth Llyr Gruffydd, yn helpu i lunio camau tuag at sero net erbyn 2040 ac adferiad natur erbyn 2050.

🌿🐐 GOATS ARE COMING TO FORGE FACH! 🐐🌿

Something a little different is happening at Forge Fach this Thursday! 😍

We’re delighted to welcome Rumination Ltd, who will be bringing their hardworking goats to help tackle Japanese knotweed and other unwanted vegetation as part of a more biodiversity-friendly approach to land management. 🌱

And before anyone gets too excited… this isn’t a petting experience! 😂 These are working goats, and they’ll be arriving ready for an all-you-can-eat buffet of weeds! 🐐🌿

Come along, have a look and watch the goats at work as they help us manage the area in a natural and environmentally conscious way.

We think it’s a pretty brilliant way to combine land management with a little bit of community interest! 💚

Grants of up to £20,000 Available to Improve Community Spaces (England, Scotland & Wales)

The Morrisons Foundation has announced that its Connecting Communities grants are open for applications, offering up to £20,000 to registered charities for capital projects that improve shared community spaces.

The Morrisons Foundation is the charitable foundation of Morrisons, supporting registered charities that make a positive difference in local communities across England, Scotland and Wales.

The grants are intended to help charities maintain, refurbish and improve accessible local spaces that bring people together, reduce social isolation and keep vital services available. Eligible projects could include:

- renovations such as roofs, kitchens or accessible toilets;
- fixed equipment such as boilers, security systems, stairlifts or sensory room equipment;
- outdoor improvements such as community gardens, paths or playground equipment.

Applicants must be registered charities with at least one year’s registration, filed accounts, and ownership of the property or a lease with at least three years remaining. Smaller charities with annual income under £1 million are prioritised. CICs, exempt charities, animal welfare charities, and organisations promoting religious or political messages are not eligible.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through the Morrisons Foundation website. There is no deadline. Decisions are usually provided by email within eight weeks, although the grant policy states reviews can take up to three months.

Grants of up to £1,000 to Support Local Good Causes (UK)

Community groups across the UK can now apply for grants of up to £1,000 through The Co-operative Bank’s Customer Donation Fund. The scheme, which supports grassroots initiatives, is open to organisations with a Co-operative Bank Charity or Community Directplus account.

Grants are awarded four times a year and can be used for a wide range of purposes, including buying equipment, hiring venues, running community events, or supporting outreach work. The fund is designed to help small charities and community groups deliver local projects that bring people together and create lasting social impact.

To apply, organisations must show how their proposed activity will benefit the local community and demonstrate clear outcomes. Applications are assessed on community benefit, need, and impact.

The fund reflects The Co-operative Bank’s ethical banking values and long-standing commitment to social responsibility. Since launching the initiative, the bank has awarded thousands of pounds to groups tackling issues like social isolation, mental health, food poverty, and youth engagement.

Applications received from 1 April to 30 September 2026 are entered into October's prize draw.

Examples of previous projects supported include:

Digital Life Skills CIC which works to give children and young people a better digital future by empowering them to navigate the growing online world.

Wiltshire Wood Recycling, a not for profit organisations, which received funding towards new tools, boots, hard hats and high-viz jackets for the workers.
