Tir Abbey Campsite

Tir Abbey Campsite Tir Abbey is a small farm situated on top of the Drummau mountain above the Swansea Valley with fantastic panoramic views.

The site overlooks the villages of Cimla, Bryncoch, Rhos, Alltwen, as well as Pontardawe and Neath town itself but as the site is on a plateau the site cannot be seen by the villages. Although the farm itself is run as a smallholding, the camp is completely private as it is only adjoined by farm fields and the only road to it is owned by us. So if you are looking for a place just to chill out, rel

ax and unwind, this is the place to be. There is no traffic noise here, just peace and privacy. This is not the place for loud music and all mod cons! There are no play areas, only open fields and an amazing landscape. This is a 'back to nature' camping holiday as the only facilities are 2 x compost toilets (with solar lights), 2 x flush toilets, and one shower, also water tap (which is regularly tested). Sorry, there are no electric hook ups. There are no shops for 3 miles, eggs from our own hens can be bought from the farmhouse. We have plenty of wildlife up here so it is the ideal retreat for artists, birdwatchers, and people who just love the countryside. We allow (and cater for) campfires as long as they are kept directly off the grass so as not to scorch it and are not left unattended (we wouldn't like to be the cause of a mountain fire!). Any queries please feel free to ring or email us.....
Linda..

Hi folks, hope you are all well after this crazy year. We are sorry that we have not been able to accommodate you this year but we are hoping (fingers crossed) that we will be able to reopen in April -virus and family problems allowing. Am not banking on anything at the moment because whenever I say 'it can't get worse' it usually does. I have nearly fully recovered from my stroke but Peter is still on crutches after he broke his leg-it's been 28 weeks now. He developed sepsis in the leg and they had to take all the metalwork back out, so it's been a long proccess but he's getting there slowly. Those of you that know him will know how active he normally is and how frustrating this is for him. Thank you for all the lovely messages- can be contacted on [email protected] Hope to catch up with you again soon...You take care....Linda...

Hi folks, hope you are all well. We are sorry that we will still not be able to open this year again as we have been struck with one thing after another here - firstly at the beginning of covid I had a stroke - okay, got over that one but then Peter had a fall and broke his leg and 10 weeks later his leg is still framed up as it was a nasty fall. Plus other family committments - we are having to remain closed. Thank you for all the lovely messages, we hope that we will be able to catch up with you all next year. You take care...Linda & Peter.

Hope that you are all keeping safe out there. Here on the campsite it is very easy for us to social distance as we are closed -so in that way we are very lucky. Am having loads of phone calls and emails from campers looking to camp this year - all saying they will be back next year. So it looks like we might be having a busy 2021!
Better get on with my craftmaking then!lol.
Okay, stay safe and we are sorry we could not accommodate you all this year...Take care...Linda & Peter..

Hi folks, just to leave you all know, no matter what you read in the papers about sites reopening - we will not be opening the campsite this season,as we are shielding. As some of you already know, after we closed last season I had a mini stroke, and then just as this virus was starting, in the middle of March I had a bigger one and was rushed in to Morriston Hospital where thanks to their speed of getting meds into me straight away I am now 95% recovered. Still get very tired at times, and memory crap - but that's nothing new! lol. but otherwise fine. So to err on the side of safety we are staying closed for this year. But on the good side it gives Peter a chance to do all the things he wanted to on the campsite - so next year, not only are the water tanks housed and sorted, but the toilets and showers are having an upgrade! Look forward to meeting up with you all again next year (providing this is all over by then).
Take care and stay safe...Linda & Peter.

Sorry folks but we will not be opening the campsite this Easter. We have taken instruction from the Camping and Caravanning Club as should every other campsite. As you all know we usually never turn a camper away so it was a hard decision to make. We have cancelled all our bookings and refunded moneys. If we all comply, hopefully we should get through this okay and it won't be to long before we reopen. So for the sake of everybody please stay at home and safe....xx..

A Happy New Year to everybody! Even though the campsite is closed there is still a lot going on here, so hopefully by the time we open at Easter you will see how busy we have been! Look forward to seeing you all again then..Linda & Peter..xx..

Hi folks, the campsite is now closed for the winter and will reopen at Easter. What a quick season it has been this year - thank you so much for making it so enjoyable. It was great to meet some really lovely campers from all over the globe - even Alaska! Our last campers of the season came from Papua New Guinea!!
On an update note to our regulars - the water tank building is now finished and Peter is in the process of getting all the plumbing installed there, so next year we will have plenty of water!
Right, back to my crafting now -new stuff on the go for next year. Oh! and on the off chance that they do have Facebook in Czech Republic and South Korea, a big thank you to our campers there for my lovely hand-crafted gifts - they were so beautiful - we will treasure them.
We hope to see you all again next year.Stay well and safe... Linda & Peter..xx..

Wow! What a busy weekend! We were nearly full and was starting to think of opening up another field. Weather was fantastic, which helped.lol. Today is the first day that the camp has been empty for months now. So day off for me today - but back to it tomorrow..Water tank building is coming along nicely - that should be all connected up by next year.So onwards and upwards!..xx..

Beautiful weather up on the campsite. It seems to be International Week at the moment - we have campers from Holland,South Africa,France and even USA. Had a lovely chat with campers from Alaska.

Another weekend over - beautiful weather and a good time was had by all. Now, campers all gone, thankfully before the rain came so everyone happy with dry tents. Now for a well earned rest and cuppa, and then get ready to start all over again.lol..Happy camping folks!..

Summer Solstice blessings to all our campers. The sun rising over the campsite this morning was absolutely beautiful. Have to say we have the most fantastic views up here overlooking both the Swansea and Neath Valleys...xx..

Hi folks! due to a special request we have opened a week early. So if you want to get away from it all and chill out you know where to come. A big thank you to our wonderful daughter Caz who helped us get everything ready once again. And to all our campers who were with us through the water shortage last year - the watertank shed is in the process of being built and should be ready by the summer. So happy camping everyone!
