The right tree can suit a new-build plot, a front garden or an empty corner spot.

These are a few that stay compact and give you more than one season of interest:

🍎 Crab apple: spring blossom, autumn fruit, and the birds love them.
🌸 Prunus Padus - The bird cherry is a graceful, wildlife-rich native UK tree known for its fragrant, almond-scented white spring blossom and small black fruits.
🍂 Rowan: light canopy, beautiful bright berries, and a native tree for local wildlife.
🍁 Acers : slow-growing and happy in a pot, with stunning autumn leaves.
