🌿 October half term is here!

We've put together a guide to family days out in Swansea, Mumbles and Gower, with plenty of ideas for the week ahead.

🐒 Meet the animals at Plantasia Tropical Zoo
🧗 Try Ninja Warrior UK Swansea or Crazy Climb Swansea
🌳 Explore Clyne Valley Country Park or visit the dinosaurs in Singleton Park.
🏖️ Wrap up warm for a walk or some rock pooling on a Gower beach.
🐴 Meet our horses at Clyne Farm Centre or get muddy at Challenge Valley.

There are indoor options for rainy days too, including bowling and mini golf.

We've included some of our favourite local places, plus a few ideas for days out further afield.

🍂 October half term is nearly here, and we've still got a few gaps in our cottage bookings!

If you're thinking of spending a few days in Swansea, Mumbles or Gower, here are three of our dog-friendly cottages with availability.

🐴 You are invited! 🐴

Fancy meeting Hettie and her friends this October half term? On Tuesday 27th October, we're opening our stables for some FREE Meet & Greet sessions.

Come along, meet some of our horses and ponies, have a look around the stables and chat to our instructors. It's a lovely opportunity for children (and grown-ups!) to get to know our horses, especially if you've never visited us before.

📅 Tuesday 27th October
⏰ 9am, 9.45am, 10.30am and 11.15am
⏳ 30 minutes per session
🎟️ Completely free, but booking is essential.

Children aged 2+ and adults are welcome. Under-2s can attend free without a ticket. There's no riding involved, just a chance to spend some time around the horses and ponies.

Our later morning sessions are filling up, but we've still got plenty of free places at 9am and 9.45am.

Already making plans for 2027? 📅

There's plenty happening around Swansea, Mumbles and Gower next year!

From the Croeso Festival in February, Tunes on the Bay in May, the Gower Show, Simply Red at Singleton Live in August, to the Great Welsh Marathon in October there's plenty to look forward to.

And we're still waiting for dates for other favourites, including the Wales Airshow, Gower Walking Festival and the Swansea International Jazz Festival.

We've put together our 2027 What's On guide, with confirmed dates and other events to look out for. We'll keep updating it as more details are announced.

Looking for something a bit different to do this October half term? 🍂

How about taking on Challenge Valley at Clyne Farm Centre?

Climb, scramble, tackle obstacles and work together as you make your way around our outdoor assault course. Expect plenty of challenges, lots of laughs and to be absolutely covered in mud by the end!

It's a great activity for families and groups of friends who fancy getting outdoors and doing something together.

👧 Suitable for ages 8+
👥 Minimum group size: 4 people

There's more to horses than riding! 🐴

Ever wondered what's involved in looking after a horse or pony? Or just fancy spending some time around horses?

Our Horse & Pony Care sessions give you the chance to spend time getting hands-on at the stables. There's no riding involved, just time to get to know our horses and learn how to look after them.

You could learn how to groom a horse, pick out its hooves, put on and take off a saddle and bridle, understand more about horse behaviour and how horses communicate, or even have a go at mucking out!

The sessions are suitable for all ages and riding abilities, from complete beginners to experienced riders. We can tailor the session to what interests you, whether you're already having riding lessons, thinking about owning a horse one day, or simply enjoy being around them.

And sometimes, just spending a bit of time grooming a pony and getting to know its personality is a lovely way to switch off from a busy day.

As most of the session takes place indoors, you don't need to worry too much about the autumn weather! 🍂

Mounted Games are coming to Clyne this October half term! 🐴

On Tuesday 27th October, we’re running three Mounted Games sessions for different riding levels.

There’ll be team races, weaving your pony around obstacles, picking up and dropping items and perhaps even some apple bobbing!

Halloween fancy dress isn’t compulsory, but it is definitely encouraged! 🎃👻

How about a few days in secluded woodland this October half term? 🍂

The Keeper’s Cottage sleeps up to 8 in four bedrooms, with plenty of room to spend time together and lots of outside space.

It’s tucked away in Clyne Valley Country Park, a short drive from the main farm, so you have the peace of the woodland setting but can still come over for horse riding or Challenge Valley. And, of course, Gower is there to explore too.

We have availability from 23rd October, including over half term.

Dogs are very welcome too. You can add up to four when booking online, or get in touch if you’d like to bring more. 🐾

🌟 UPDATE: Now booked for 23rd–25th October, but still available from 25th October for the rest of half term.
