WEDDING AT TAIN.
The old St Duthus Memorial Church, Tain, was the scene of a pretty wedding on Wednesday. The contracting parties were Dr George Grant-Macdonald, Bowes Park, London, son of the minister of Cornhill United Free Church, Banff, and Miss Margaret Macdonald, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. J. Macdonald, Knockbreck House, Tain.
Miss Maggie Fraser, Tain, presided at the organ, and as the bride walked up the aisle on the arm of her father, Lohengrin's "Bridal March was played. The church was beautifully decorated with palms and flowers, and the ceremony was performed under a handsome wedding bell of flowers hung from the ceiling. The officiating ministers were-Rev. G. G. Macdonald, Cornhill, father of the bridegroom; Rev. P. D. Thomson, M.A., Kelvinside, Glasgow; and Rev. Alexander Frazer, Tain. The bride looked charming in a white silk empire gown, with a bridal veil, crowned with a spray of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white roses and lily of the valley.
The bridesmaids were Miss Flora Macdonald, sister of the bride, who wore a dress of white silk mousseline de soie, and Misses Maritina and Elsiebelle Macdonald, sisters of the bridegroom, who wore dresses of white silk. They carried lovely bouquets of pink roses, tied with a ribbon of Macdonald tartan. The duties of the groomsman were discharged by Mr Patrick T. Macdonald, Cornhill, brother of the bridegroom, and Mr W. G. Macdonald, Knockbreck House, brother of the bride. After the ceremony, the newly married couple left the church to the strains of Mendelssohn's "Wedding March."
A reception was afterwards held in the Royal Hotel, at which over 300 guests were present. The happy young couple left Tain by the 3.10 p.m. train en route for the south amid showers of rice and confetti.
