New spoke - 285mm - quick true up and this Bianchi is good for the road again - an interesting machine - with very early STI levers - which according to our sources date back to 1990 - not sure in the precise vintage of this Italian Stallion - but it’s unusual in red and yellow (80s hangover?)....

New spoke.... a true up, and this Cannondale Synapse Rear Wheel is Good to go! If you get a buckle, or worse; a broken spoke - get it seen to ASAP - we can salvage these things if you nip them in the bud - don’t wait - or you‘ll trash your wheel ! And that would be a shame 😢🚵‍♀️

Sometimes - you know your bike’s not running quite right.... you know that the gears aren’t finding their slot properly - in this case - it’s a damaged chainring that’s giving the grief ! Time for a new 50 Tooth FSA Gossamer Chainring ... 5 Bolt configuration ....

More busy times at the Workshop. From press fit bearings, through to Hydraulic Discs, Rear Mech maintenance (special mention to young James and his very detailed briefing on what needed attention on his Whyte MTB 👍) and replacing bearings on a rather natty 1980’s Raleigh Sensor with its unusual Sachs Huret 5 speed gears. It seems that the whole world is out on two wheels at the moment. And as a result, a lot of the world has discovered that there are annoying little jobs to be done on their bikes. That’s where we can help! On Friday it was hydraulic bleed and refresh fluid, followed by clean service and replace grip shift. We also stripped, cleaned and tightened a BB30 bottom bracket (bearings turned out fine). And finally we got a query on a vintage rear wheel with a broken spoke:- which we shall try and replace and retrue the wheel (🤞).... luckily we just happened to have a 296mm spoke - so no waiting for parts 👍. So ... if you’ve got a job on your bike that you’re just not sure about - give us a call and we’ll try and get your bike running nice and smoothly again 🚴‍♂️

Today has been rammo! Started with an interesting job where a couple of bikes had been dropped off a bike carrier and needed checking over(😱) Then we moved on to finishing up a Hybrid which needed brakes and gears setting up - bent rear mech didn’t help matters there😲. Next came a rather smart looking Specialized Hardrock (wow, how that bike has evolved over the years!) then finally a slightly older Specialized Rockhopper paid us a visit for some replacement brake blocks and a general tidy up and service. Today in the workshop - it’s the turn of a lovely Whyte Stirling Sports Hybrid with some natty anodised trick bits - looks the business IMHO.... simple and effective. Anyway - disc brakes needed pads checking, and one of those annoying bottom bracket noises requires some investigation. External BB needed tightening. All good to go now ... next job ?

Nice machine in our ‘shop today.... Mercian with old skool Reynolds 501 tubing- and an interesting combo of Campag and Shimano - and some tasty dinner plate chainrings .... a few tweaks, mech settings and brake realignment - job done ✅ 🚲

Bike Service Taunton... 2020 - A New Beginning...

So, normally, we find ourselves out, navigating, helping, checking on riders, setting up feed stations, getting people safely to their hotels as we pedal across Europe, and even - from time to time we mend a few bikes. We have sen our events grow from five to ten riders, up to 150, and more... we’ve spun our way across 35 European Countries, until March 2020 - when everything went a bit COVID ! So - we decided that we might start offering our services a little closer to home - hiring bikes (nice Aluminium and Carbon Road Bikes), and fixing and servicing bikes for folks who either don’t have time, or the knowledge to do it themselves.

We also offer Bike Sales - as we are representatives for Ridgeback, Orro, Genesis, and Saracen to name a few.
