Olga Polizzi's beautifully restored country house hotel, situated on the Devon/Cornwall border overlooking 108 acres of woodland gardens and the stunning Tamar Valley. Join Alex Polizzi for dinner at Endsleigh on Monday 16 November. Alex comes from a long line of hoteliers. After reading English at Oxford, Alex trained at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, worked for Marco Pierre White at the Criterion before turning her attention to The Polizzi Collection, a group of three hotels she runs with her mother Olga and sister Charlie. Dinner with Alex Polizzi is £95 including Prosecco and canapés followed by a four-course dinner. An optional w**e flight is also available for £35.

Christmas Wreath Making Workshops in November and December with Nadine Gibbon and Simon Nickell are now live to book. When you arrive at Endsleigh you will be directed to the stables where a cup of tea will be waiting for you. Please bring an apron, gardening gloves and secateurs. Everything else you need is included. Lunch will be served at 2 PM. The workshop is £95 including tuition, two course lunch, tea, coffee and a glass of w**e. I defy anyone to find a more beautiful spot in the whole of England. There is no traffic or aircraft noise, no light pollution, just the sound of the Tamar river. The garden has taken on a very different feel in the constant heat, it is a place to observe from the shade rather than enthusiastically explore, the grottoes and follies offer respite from sun rather than adventure and the rose arch and yew walk provide shady colonnades from which to peer out, blinking, at the sun-bleached scene. The water, intended by Repton to add drama to the scene, has a more soothing effect now that the flow has lessened and the sound is reminiscent of the paradise gardens of the middle east: cooling, calming and captivating.
