🐾 Room to roam at Harford Bridge

One of the little things our four-legged guests seem to love about staying at Harford Bridge is our dedicated dog walking field.

Holiday home owner Sophie summed it up perfectly:

“We love the dog field because of the views, the paths around it and the long bits of grass are good for the dogs too. Being able to let the dog off the lead and knowing it’s secure is brilliant.”

🐕 Longer grass to explore
🔒 A secure space for some off-lead freedom
🌄 And some rather lovely views for the humans too!

Our dog walking field is here for guests staying with us and our holiday home owners — because a Dartmoor break should be enjoyable for every member of the family. 🐾

One of the joys of staying at Harford Bridge is having Dartmoor waiting just beyond the gate.

Today’s suggestion — Burrator Reservoir. 🌿💧

A beautiful place for a walk, with woodland, open moorland, water and some wonderful Dartmoor views.

Some dates are simply part of the Tavistock calendar — and Goose Fair is one of them.

On Wednesday 14th October, Tavistock will once again come alive for a tradition stretching back centuries.

🎪 Fairground rides
🛍️ Streets full of stalls and traders
🍴 Plenty of food and treats
🍂 A proper West Devon autumn tradition

Whether you’ve experienced Goose Fair before or you’re wondering what all the fuss is about, it’s certainly a day worth putting in the diary.

Not everything we do is glamorous — but it all matters.

Better separation.

A few coloured lids, a little more thought and, with the help of Sparling Recycling, we’re doing our bit.

🍂 Hello September…

Today marks the first day of meteorological autumn — and there’s something rather special about this time of year at Harford Bridge.

The mornings become a little cooler.
The park becomes a little calmer.
And that first cup of coffee somehow tastes even better outside. ☕️

Summer might be starting to soften around the edges, but there’s still plenty of Dartmoor waiting to be explored.

🚲 Miles to ride
🌿 Space to breathe
🌅 Earlier sunsets and slower evenings

Sometimes a break doesn’t need a packed itinerary.

🍂 Summer holidays may be over… but the season certainly isn’t.

As the school summer holidays draw to a close, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made Harford Bridge their base over the past few weeks.

Families, couples, four-legged adventurers, familiar faces and first-time visitors — it’s been wonderful having you here. We hope you’ve gone home with plenty of happy Dartmoor memories.

But we’re not saying goodbye to summer just yet.

September brings a different rhythm to Harford Bridge.

☕ Cooler mornings and that first coffee outside.
🥾 Quieter paths and miles of Dartmoor to explore.
🌅 Earlier sunsets and evenings spent watching the light disappear behind the hills.
🌳 Less hustle and bustle, a little more peace and space to simply enjoy being here.

There’s still plenty happening locally, plenty of exploring to be done and plenty of season left at Harford Bridge.

So, to everyone who joined us during the school holidays — thank you.

And to those arriving over the coming weeks…
