Tavistock House Hotel is a 4 storey Grade 11 Listed Victorian townhouse built by the Duke of Bedford circa 1850, situated in the historic market town of Tavistock, Devon. We are located on Plymouth Road which was purposely built by the Duke when reconstructing the town, opposite Tavistock Tennis club and Meadowlands Park. ering 6 individually designed rooms in sumptuous surroundings where you can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome. Each room has an eclectic mix of furniture, Hypnos Lansdowne Cashmere beds, 500 thread count Egyptian cotton linens, 40 inch Smart 3D TVs with free access to Netflix so you can enjoy movies and catch up on programs at your leisure. The rooms range from a Classic King room to our Deluxe Superkings all providing high –standard ensuite facilities, rain showers, Anyah spa toiletries and some with a host of extra touches including slippers and dressing gowns. You can also enjoy a freshly cooked English and/or Continental breakfast, using locally sourced foods wherever possible, in the elegantly decorated lounge which has an original fireplace, cornices and panelled walls. Our central location gives you an ideal base to explore Tavistock which is a World Heritage site, and the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake, offering an amazing history, stunning architecture, individual shops, restaurants and the Pannier Market, as well as the beautiful surrounding countryside. Tavistock is nestled on the edge of Dartmoor and only 30 minutes drive from Plymouth making it a great base to explore Devon and Cornwall.

Some of our favourite walks on Dartmoor minutes from the hotel! Cox Tor is just a short drive with glorious views stretching out over Dartmoor, Burrator Reservoir has a bit of everything, Bellever is fantastic for a pic nic and Pew Tor for a steady climb to the top! 🥾🥾
