πŸ‘€ Mermaid Cottage hosted a swim retreat in Teignmouth this weekend. Guests were treated to a beautiful sunset swim in the River Teign overlooking Dartmoor National Park. A fish & chip supper on the back beach from the Harbour Fish Bar and drinks 🍹 🍻 from . We laughed the night away and headed back to the cottage after dark. (It’s only a few minutes walk!!)
On Saturday, we explored the town and then headed off to the fish quay to pick up the for a trip out of the historic port on a 10 m Humber rib boat to explore the beautiful South Devon coastline. It was a bouncy ride out but within 2 minutes we had a beautiful dolphin 🐬 pod swimming around the boat - it was so exciting and such a beautiful sight! Rob, the skipper is so knowledgeable and made our trip a fabulous adventure.
We headed back to the cottage (also a few mins walk from the fish quay) for a cream tea lunch where we discussed which way the jam & cream should go! In my personal Devon opinion, it tastes delicious either way 😝. We headed off to Dartmoor National Park where we were meet with wild cattle & sheep before seeking out the hidden fairy grotto waterfalls. As we headed under a cover of trees, it was like entering a different world. The trees were dripping with moss and everywhere was green. The waterfall is small but so picturesque with not an inch of space not covered in green moss and craggy rocks which all added to the fairytale atmosphere. We bobbed around in the natural plunge pool and laughed a lot! Two of the best medicines right there! Cold water & 🀭 laughter! We warmed up with tea & cake. For dinner we went to a newly opened restaurant in Teignmouth on the seafront. We enjoyed eating seafood, chatting and later we stumbled upon the festival where we sang and danced the night away. On Sunday, we visited for hot drinks and listen to the waves breaking! It was too rough to swim, but exhilarating to watch. We then explored the Arts 🎭 Quarter of Teignmouth and made purchases and before enjoying lunch at
