Just thought I would share a thread from an email from an unscrupulous fraudster.

We get a few of these each week, all so similar that they could come from the same place.

If you read the thread FROM THE BOTTOM UPWARDS, you will be able to tell that I.knew exactly what was coming yet despite this they still chose to try. Obviously I did not follow the link (which I have removed as I strongly suspect it will contain a virus).

I hope you enjoy my final response as much as I enjoyed sending it!

Dave

Here is the thread.......

Hello

Your reply was expected and anticipated.

I was aware that you were stupid to try to have me follow a phishing link but I must confess to being staggered by your stunted intellect.

The fact that you are so idiotic that you ignored my reply and then still expect me to follow a dodgy phishing link nothing short of laughable. I was aware of your intentions as soon as I received your initial email but I thought I would see just how much of a dope you are. Congratulations, you have proven yourself to be totally brainless.

Hello, I paid for the reservation, but it shows me that it is not confirmed, I am very worried, since the dates for which we booked were already very soon, I wrote to technical support, they answered me within a while and gave me a link to my reservation, and they instructed us to give it to you so that you can check the status of the reservation and its correctness!

Here is the link (Note....I.have removed the link for safety reasons)

Sincerely, please do this as soon as possible, because we are very worried, this is the first time we have encountered this. Thank you for your understanding, we expect a quick response!!!

Hello

Thanks for the email.

You do NOT have a booking with us. You must have confused us with another hotel.

We only accept bookings directly through our own website or by telephone and you have not used either of these methods to reserve a room.

We do NOT use and we are NOT listed on any 3rd party platforms such as Booking.com or Expedia as our experience is that these platforms are plagued by unscrupulous fraudsters who send phishing links which they foolishly expect us to follow.

Please direct any further enquiries to the hotel you booked with.

Well. I finally did it! All 214 Wainwrights bagged.
A lovely weekend with Carol and friends Ian and Elaine with all of us climbing Haystacks (Wainwright's favourite) on Sunday.
A great day but an even lovelier hill. It is easy to see why he loved it so much. This isn't the last time I will go up there.
For a bank holiday weekend with such nice walking weather and a fantastic hill, it was surprisingly quiet.
This journey started inadvertently really on 10th April 2016 when I climbed Loughrigg whilst in the Lake District on holiday. The following day I did Silver How. At the time I knew very little about Alfred Wainwright or his 214 hills. It is probably due to Ian that I looked into it and started to look at it as a challenge. I think we have done about half of them together and had lots (and lots) of laughs along the way.
I have encountered every type of weather except lightning (which every sensible fellwalker avoids at all costs), been wet, cold, hot, up to my thighs in snow and in bogs. Had my eyes peeled back with sleet and been almost on my knees in gales. There have been some awesome views and also times in mist so thick you could only see a few feet. Still I have no bad memories but have had a fantastic time completing my quest.
My thanks must go to Ian who has been my hillcraft mentor and whose company I will never tire of. Thanks must go to his wife Elaine too for letting him come out to play so frequently. However my sincere gratitude to Carol for letting me go whenever I wanted and running the house in my absence must also be recorded. Thank you 💕
It has been a blast!!

Another few days spent in the Lake District this week.
I went up on Tuesday with my chum Ian again. It has been some time since we had walked together and, as usual, we had a great time with lots of laughs. One of the best laughs came at my expense when I put my foot into a boggy, smelly and quite deep hole. I think my rucksack stopped me going in more than thigh high! Fortunately it wasn't far from the car so I could wash off in the river.
We did Harter Fell and Green Crag. The walk back from Green Crag was a very squelchy one and I did express my surprise and delight that I had managed to keep my feet dry. Then..... "payback!"
Ian then went home and I stayed over for a couple more days. On Wednesday I did Scafell and Slight Side. A lovely day with very dry conditions. (I had fortunately taken a second pair of boots). It was a big walk with amazing views . The top of Scafell wasn't busy at all but we could see the steady stream of "ants" plodding up and down Scafell Pike in the distance. It does seem to attract an unprecedented number of people!
On Thursday I planned to go to Ennerdale to do Grike, Crag Fell and Lank Rigg. I got up and it was absolutely hoofing it down. ☂️☂️😢 I had breakfast and called Carol to say I may not bother as those fells have a boggy reputation. I thought I would pop over and have a look before making a final decision. The weather wasn't too bad up there - it had cleared considerably so I thought I would get my waterproofs on and give it a crack. After about 5 minutes the rain stopped. I took off my waterproofs and started walking in my tee shirt, which I did all the way round! The weather was cloudy and the ground was much drier than expected. A second day of dry feet!! 👍 I made good time and only saw one other person all the way round. I am so glad I did it as.......
This takes me to .... wait for it.....213 done out of 214! 🏃👍 Only Haystacks, which I had decided early on in my quest would be my last, remains outstanding. Carol and I together with Ian and his wife Elaine have booked to go up in August to do it.

I was again granted permission by Carol to spend a few days in The Lakes staying in Gosforth.
On Sunday I ticked off Yewbarrow, on Monday it was a circular route of Mellbreak (a very steep ascent / scramble up scree) then down and back up Hen Comb, followed by Gavel Fell, Blake Fell and Burnbank Fell. A tough day on the legs. On Tuesday I did Lingmell and was going to do Scafell and Seatallen but changed my mind and did Scafell Pike instead. Lingmell was empty but Scafell Pike was a mass of people in wildly differing attire.
On Wednesday I drove up past Keswick to do one that has been outstanding for some time - Mungrisdale Common. It has the reputation of being perhaps the worst of the Wainwrights. A boggy, featureless expanse with little to make it interestimg. Even Wainwright describes it as "having no more pretension to elegance than a pudding which has been sat on". 😂 He doesn't even provide a route up remarking that there is little point in doing so as it will never be used.
Due to the heatwave we have had I was pleasantly delighted to find it quite dry. There were one or two places where it was slightly squelchy but I definitely picked the right time to do it. 👍
I am now left with 8 to do. Three are a circular walk, 2 are fairly close and not too strenuous, two more are Scafell and Seatallen which will be a decent leg stretch then my final one will be Haystacks which I want to do with Carol, my walking buddy who I have done most of them with, Ian Morton and his wife Elaine. It was Wainwright's favourite so I am looking forward to completing that one.
Won't be long now!! 🤞🤞
