MEET SOPHIE & BRUNO 🏊🏼🚴🏽🏃🏼

📍Monaco 🇲🇨 Sophie is originally from Buckinghamshire in the UK, and Bruno is originally from France.

❓Sophie has come to Wales straight from London after launching her fashion house, The Cloth The Cloth at Harrods Harrods last week. The Cloth is celebrating its 40th anniversary one of the Caribbean’s longest-standing fashion brands and works with West Indian Sea Island Cotton - the rarest and highest-grade cotton in the world that grows only in the Caribbean.

Bruno is a medical doctor and professor, and Head of the Maternity Department at the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco. His latest research paper he is working on is on the subject of uterine rupture.

Together, they also run Swimrun Monaco swimrunmonaco a sporting association where they lead outings and introduce people to the Swedish sport of swimrun.

🥇This will be Sophie’s 5th full-distance triathlon and Bruno’s 7th.

Sophie’s proudest endurance achievement was running her first standalone marathon at the 2022 London Marathon in 3:05, while raising £10,000 for a charity close to her heart.

Bruno’s was winning his age group at the formidable Embrunman in 2022, considered one of the toughest long-distance triathlons in Europe.

🎯 Collective goal for race day

Ah, ha, ha, ha… stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive… ah, ha, ha, ha… stayin’ aliiiiive! 😂

In other words: stay alive, enjoy the day, and make it to that finish line together!

Myrtle House Hotel will be supporting Sophie & Bruno every step of the way tomorrow 🙌🏼🏁

WELCOME BACK TO MYRTLE HOUSE Christopher De Rycke

📍Buckley, North Wales

❓Chris runs TCC - Triathlon coaching (TCC) where he enjoys coaching others to optimise their performance and to achieve their goals!

🥇 Chris is an accomplished endurance athlete. Chris has raced 10 Ironmans (8 in Tenby & 2 in Italy) 2 half Ironmans and 100+ other similar races.

🎯 Chris was due to compete tomorrow, but unfortunately, a chest infection has forced him to withdraw. He is still here, and will be cheering on and supporting his teammates every step of the way!

MEET MATT LUXTON 🏊🏼🚴🏽🏃🏼

📍 From Launceston, Cornwall

❓ Matt loves helping others succeed and achieve their dreams. He does this mainly through his health and fitness coaching. Matt is the owner of Matt Luxton Health & Fitness and the Tamar Performance Centre. Matt’s been involved in triathlon for around 13 years and loves being able to combine coaching other athletes with continuing to train and compete himself.

🥇 Matt has completed more than 50 half-Ironman distance events, and Ironman Wales will be his fifth full Ironman. Matt has qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship three times and has also represented Great Britain in his age group at middle-distance triathlon.

🎯 Matt says.. First and foremost, the goal is to finish! Anything under 12 hours would be a really good day out. Matt would be absolutely chuffed with anything under 11:30. Matt’s peak training weeks happened at the same time as welcoming his son Ollie into the world eight weeks ago, so preparation has involved a little more juggling and a lot less sleep than usual!

INTRODUCING MERLE BRUNNÉE 🏊🏼🚴🏽🏃🏼 We are delighted to welcome Merle to Myrtle House Hotel as she prepares to take on the Ironman Wales in Tenby! 📍 From Heidelberg, Germany
❓ Merle is a professional triathlete and doctor working in neuroradiology. In triathlon, Merle likes the bike part the most, which is her strength, and that’s why she came to Tenby! Merle is really looking forward to riding those challenging climbs and the amazing crowd on race day!
🥇 Merle is a multiple Duathlon World Champion in long distance and recently defended her title, only a few days ago in Zofingen, Switzerland. In triathlon, Merle is currently ranked #60 on the PTO world ranking with some major results such as 14th at the Ironman World Championships 2024.
🎯 Merle’s goal is to get all in on the bike and on the run. After a bad bike crash a few days ago with an injured shoulder, she’s probably not ready yet for her best swim performance. Nevertheless she is ready to chase once on the bike! We are super excited to support Merle and will be cheering her along during the race 🏁📣 Best of luck from Myrtle House Hotel 🫶.
