I can’t remember the last time I went anywhere on my own. Normally I’d have the dog with me and be multi-tasking, listening to a book or a podcast while walking him. Or Nick will be with me, so we’ll be discussing family or work stuff.

I’m visiting my sister in Northern Ireland this week, and had a few hours while she had some ‘mum taxiing’ to do, so I took myself off to see Cloughmore Stone. I parked up and set off on the steep climb. I had my headphones with me, but I didn’t use them. For the first time in years I just listened to the birds and the trees rustling… where I could over the sound of my rasping breath and thudding heart - I clearly need to do more cardio! 😅
Then at the top, I just sat on my own in the stillness and looked at the view.
There was no signal. No Wi-Fi. It was glorious.
I just… stopped.
Note to self: take your own damn advice and do this more often.

It was lovely welcoming so many nice people to The Little Retreat last year when we were able to! Although we are obviously not accepting guests during the lockdown, hopefully it won't be too long before we can once again share this special little place. Enhanced cleaning protocols will be in place, self check in will be via a lockbox and it is a totally self contained and separate property. Bookings can still be made for the future subject to the cancellation rules on the listing. We hope to see you soon!

A romantic sanctuary with sumptuous soft furnishings, a contemporary kitchen for the most accomplished cooks and gorgeous modern bathroom with bath and separate rainfall shower. Set in a conservation area at the foot of the Malvern Hills and within 10 minutes walk of the village pub, what more could you want for a romantic Valentines weekend, Easter break or Bank Holiday getaway? Flowers and fizz for 2 on arrival for all bookings up until the end of March. Cheltenham Gold cup week is still available - the racecourse is less than half an hours drive away..

“This was the best Airbnb experience I've ever had. Wendy is a FANTASTIC host. From start to finish the experience was flawless, great communication leading up to our stay and throughout our visit. The lodge is the equivilent of a 5 star hotel in my opinion. Finished to an incredibly high standard, lots of great design touches and high spec fixtures and fittings. To be honest it's the nicest place I've stayed in the past 12 months! Too many nice touches to list but arriving with treats and milk/eggs/bread etc. was a lovely touch. I would 110% recommend this to anyone looking for accomodation in the local area.”
