Well it's the end of an era folks...we are packing boxes like mad fools and will leave The Hawthorns on Friday.
From now on guests will be welcomed and looked after by Greame and Eilein Connelly and we'd like to wish them all good things for the future x

After 9 happy years, welcoming amazing guests from every walk of life and from every corner of the globe, we are saying "Goodbye" to The Hawthorns.
The memories and friends we've made will stay with us forever (but thankfully not the laundry pile!)
I'd like to welcome the new Owners, Graeme and Eilein Connelly,who will take over in May (appropriately!) and continue to trade as a B & B. We really hope they enjoy the life as much as well have.
Our new venture, along at John o'Groats, should be open in July and we hope to see all our old friends, and many new ones, at Stacks Bistro and Coffee House. Everyone welcome 10am-10pm!

Many of our guests are now doing the Route 500 and enjoying every minute of it!

North Coast 500 - to be known as NC500 - was only launched two months ago, but has struck a chord with travellers due to its stunning scenery and fairy tale castles that can be seen along the route.

In the time it took me to put out my dustbin, I saw two shooting stars and the Aurora!

Absolutely exceptional aurora tonight. Mint sky. Rays pushing over the plough. All clearly visible to the naked eye in mono.

18:15 : Just had a full colour naked eye swirl in green.

Scores of Geminid meteors streaking through.
