Most visitors think John O’Groats is the most northerly point on mainland Britain… but it isn’t! 👀 One of our favourite local viewpoints… and it’s only around a 20-minute drive from The Crofter’s Snug. 🚙💕🏴 so here’s the 360 view at…. Dunnet Head!! – geographically the most northerly point. 🤩 While many visitors head straight for John O’Groats, Dunnet Head offers something completely different. Standing 85m (280ft) above the Pentland Firth, it’s quieter, wilder, and the views are simply incredible.
On a clear day you’ll be treated to spectacular 360° views across to Orkney, along the Caithness coastline, and as far as Cape Wrath. 🤩
While you’re there, don’t miss:
📍 The iconic lighthouse, designed by Robert Stevenson in 1831.
🐦 Thousands of nesting seabirds between May and July, including puffins, razorbills, guillemots, fulmars and kittiwakes.
🏰 The remains of the WWII radar station and military bunkers.
🌊 The summit marker, where you’ll be rewarded with one of the finest panoramic views in Scotland.
