A little hello from us at Farr Bay Inn 🤍
We know we’ve been a little quieter on here lately, but behind the scenes, the Farr Bay Inn has been anything but quiet.
We’ve still been here welcoming guests from all over the world, looking after the people who come through our doors and quietly thinking about what the next chapter of Farr Bay should look like.
And lately, we’ve found ourselves looking back a little too.
Karan took over the FBI in 2009, and since then this place has become so much more than a hotel or a restaurant to us. It’s been our home, our livelihood, and a huge part of our family’s life for nearly two decades.
Luke has quite literally grown up here - from being a kid around the hotel when Karan first took over, to becoming part of the day-to-day running of Farr Bay as an adult.
Some of you reading this will have known us since those early days. Now, life is taking Luke further afield as he pursues his music career, with opportunities and adventures we could never have imagined back in 2009, but somehow, he still ends up back at Farr Bay talking about menus, bookings and whatever needs fixing next!
In many ways, we’ve grown up alongside this place. And as our lives have changed, it’s only natural that the Farr Bay Inn continues to grow and change with us.
We’ve had some incredibly proud moments along the way - including being named Best Hotel & Restaurant in Sutherland in both 2021 and 2022. But, some of our favourite memories aren’t the ones that came with awards.
They’re the ordinary ones.
The locals popping in for dinner. The familiar faces at the bar. The celebrations, birthdays and catch-ups. The visitors who arrived as strangers and came back as friends. The conversations with people we’ve known for years, and watching new faces discover this little corner of the Highlands for the first time.
Farr Bay has always belonged as much to the community around it as it has to us.
And after all these years, we think it’s time for the next chapter.
We’ve been making some changes behind the scenes - taking what we’ve learned over the years, keeping the things we love about Farr Bay, and thinking differently about what this place can be for the future.
We’re starting with a refreshed food offering, some new additions and a few things we’ve been quietly working away on. Over the coming weeks and months, we’ll finally start sharing a little more of it with you.
For now, what we can say is that we’re still here. We’re still welcoming guests. We’re still part of this community. And we’re genuinely excited about what’s ahead.
To everyone who has eaten with us, stayed with us, celebrated with us, supported us, worked alongside us or simply popped in to say hello over the years - thank you!
