One of the advantages of letting the grass grow long: an abundance of moths. This Gold Spangle is the first we've seen and the photo can't do justice to the reflective nature of the brown patch and white markings - though you can see how the white is reflecting the green of the leaf.

Former guests may remember the paddock. Over the past few years I've been digging out the 'boggy bit' and it's now a very active and busy wildlife pond.

The bees have done us proud this year with some lovely summer honey, heather honey and honeycomb! We'll be selling that and lots of proper beeswax candles at the Tobermory Producers' Market in the Aros Hall tonight as part of the Christmas Lights Switch-on Event. This is a photo of last year's stall.

We're spending the month trying to do 100 miles in aid of the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance and the new Mull Hospital Helipad (which saves a bumpy few miles back down the road to Glenforsa for anyone needing a helicopter trip to the mainland hospitals). Yesterday we were cycling along the Speyside Way and local roads from Aviemore to Grantown on Spey and back. After 30 years, we've decided to retire from B & B. Covid, ferry chaos, higher prices and the SNP's draconian new legislation have combined to make it uneconomic to continue. We'll leave this page on Facebook and continue to update from time to time for all of you who like seeing what's happening here and on Mull. We'll see if we can offer painting tuition to anyone staying elsewhere on the island - just send a message - but Viewmount B & B is, alas, no more.

Basking in the January sun and looking a bit smarter as we managed to paint the front during the summer (in between showers!).

Some things can only be done when we're closed. You really wouldn't want to be in that twin room right now as it's a little noisy! While some of the original harling leaves a little to be desired, it's nice to see how solidly our home was built!
