!!Exciting News!!

On Tuesday the 8th of August we will welcome Donald S Murray to Grantown to discuss his forthcoming book A Red Star Over the Hebrides, a collection of short stories, poems, songs and verses inspired by his own personal experiences in post-war Lewis. The book explores the deep rooted social and cultural connections between the Outer Hebrides and Russia, the Baltic States and even Ukraine and Poland.

Donald S Murray is a writer and poet whose first novel, As the Women Lay Dreaming, won the Paul Torday Memorial Prize in 2020. Like his first novel, his second, In a Veil of Mist, is set in the Isle of Lewis and centred on historical events of the 20th century. His latest novel, the Call of the Cormorant, is a fantastical tale of island life and the dangers of delusion.

A Red Star Over the Hebrides is out this Wednesday 21st of June.

With the busy summer upon us, we thought we’d answer a few frequently asked questions ❓

We accept bookings 90 days in advance year round (except during August when it’s walk-ins only) for parties between 1 and 8 people.

We accept walk-ins everyday. Only some of our tables can be booked, everything else is for walk-ins on a first come first serve basis.

We do our best to accommodate everyone as quickly as possible and have a system in place that means you don’t have to wait in line but we text you when your table is ready 📲

So whether you have a booking or not, feel free to come by and we’ll greet you with a smile 😊
