The building consisted of a Manor house, a grain & timber mill and other various out buildings. The mill was featured in Henry Williamson's "Tarka the Otter". It has now been converted to 7 self-catering cottages which are available throughout the year. Our smallest cottage sleeps 3 and the largest sleeps 12. We are situated in a beautiful setting on the bank of the River Torridge where guests can

enjoy a heated indoor swimming pool, a games room, an outdoor play area as well as tranquil river views. Our location not only offers superb local woodland walks and trails, we are also only 10 miles away from Devon's north coast, giving access to some of the most beautiful beaches and tourist attractions- making Town Mills an ideal location for all guests regardless of age or weather! As a family owned business, we strive to create a 'home from home' stay for our guests and have made it our mission to enhance all that our Mill has to offer.

Thanks to our friends at Devon Dog Pool for inviting Town Mills resident Labrador puppy ‘Spencer’ to try out the only swimming pool in Devon dedicated solely to dogs! It was the first time he’d been in water deeper than a puddle, and as you can see, he loved every second.

If you want to build your dogs confidence in water - or even if you just want to build your own confidence to know what to do if your dog gets into trouble whilst swimming - we’d recommend a visit.

Recently we had some lovely guests stay with us in our 4 sleeper, Skirr.

Rob Parker managed to capture some absolutely stunning pictures of the wildlife here at the Mill & with his permission, we would love to share them with you all…

Being in the country side we are lucky enough to see these beautiful creatures daily…but not quite as up close and personal as these pictures provide…

The time and effort that was put into taking these pictures is truly admirable so thank you very much Rob! We’re glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again in the near future
