Our little Nelly gets lots of mentions from previous guests so I thought I’d introduce her! Nelly is 4 year old Labrador. Who has the sweetest nature. She loved children of all ages and will happily play for hours with anyone willing. She’s also really good with other dogs and will often try to escape our garden, run into the field and sit by the fence just watching and hoping she can come to play. We do have another Labrador called Buster who when younger would also slip away and play with anyone willing (he’s more keen on the sofa these days). So if you are coming to stay, look out for Nelly she loves a cuddle, see you soon ❤️

We are so lucky at Stibb Hollow to have many Barn Swallow families that call us home. They come back every year, generation after generation. The cabin was built six years ago and a new family settled in under the canopy. These chicks have been out of the nest today learning to catch insects. We keep the grass long in the field so they have lots of food (we cut paths in the field so guests can enjoy walking their dogs or kids running round the paths). Lots of guest comment on how wonderful it is to watch the swallows up close and how minutes suddenly turn into hours, mesmerised. These are the swallows first brood, so don’t worry if you’ve book with us, you’ll still get to enjoy them. They really are very special and I love the idea that they have a home in Africa waiting for them in the winter and someone is waiting for them to return.

We had some visitors this week. We had a little bull who got lost and managed 🤷🏼‍♀️ to jump into our field! The farmer bought a couple of girls to keep him happy before they move them today. They really are beautiful animals. It’s been lovely having them here 🐄🐄🐄

The field next to the cabin is now open! New for 2026. One and a half acre field for running free with kids, dogs or just you! Accessible from the cabin garden, secure field for just you.
