Bore da, good morning my lovelies. It's another glorious Autumn morning here in Eryri, the cats have had breakfast and gone back to bed, and I'm just starting on my second cuppa.

And it's time.

Time to have the "what are you doing for Christmas?" conversation. With just 70 days to go, if your plans include eacaping to a cosy log cabin you might want to think about reserving yours with a £50 deposit. We have stays from 2 nights throughout the holiday period, with arrivals every day except Christmas Day. The cabins will all be decorated with Christmas trees and fairy lights, (unless of course you'd prefer to get away from all that this year, in which case just let us know 💕) and we've started filling the Cadair View Lodge Tasty Food in Eryri Facebook group with delicious festive menus from the local pubs and restaurants.

And last year we had lots of Twixtmas visitors, here to walk off all the mince pies and get some fresh mountain air before the New Year celebrations. Something to think about?

As for me, I'll be right here in Trawsfynydd as always to make sure everything runs smoothly for our Christmas guests. But enough about me, what I really want to know is.....

Noswaith dda, evening everyone. It's been an absolutely glorious Autumn day in Eryri and Oakley and I have completed Day 2 of our 100k Your Way challenge for Sport in Mind, raising funds for their children's mental health projects.

This afternoon we did one of my favourite walks from Trawsfynydd to Coed y Brenin. It's a steady climb up the back road from Traws to Capel Penstryd above the cabins, then picking up the Sarn Helen trail, an ancient Roman route that runs the length of Wales. It takes you down into Coed y Brenin forest and ultimately on to Dolgellau and beyond.

Everything crossed for our friends at Caru Coed y Brenin as they reach the final stages of their bid to run the much-loved and much-missed visitor centre. The journey has been far too long and there will be a huge amount of work to do but hopefully we'll have some good news to share very soon.

Huge respect to everyone who has worked tirelessly to get to this point. Coed y Brenin has brought hundreds of thousands of visitors to our doorstep and it would be a dream come true to see it safe in the hands of the local community.

Caru Coed y Brenin has been invited to submit a final proposal to manage and develop Coed y Brenin, with the aim of ensuring that the world-renowned site is run by the community, for the benefit of the community.

It has been some time since Caru Coed y Brenin issued a public update about the future of Coed y Brenin. However, a significant amount of work has been taking place behind the scenes.

It still feels too early to be mentioning the C-word, but the shops are already full of Christmas stuff and the Christmas menus are starting to drop (I'll pop the local ones in the Cadair View Lodge Tasty Food in Eryri group as I see them).

Dreams have been broken this weekend and much needed holidays cancelled. We never like to hear of this happening and would hate for it to happen to us... no matter what the reason.
We are offering FREE stays either for 2 nights from Friday 27th September or for 4 nights from Monday 30th September for those who have booked a Thomas Cook holiday and are due to leave between now and Monday 30th September.
Please email [email protected] with proof of your booking, contact telephone number and how many people are travelling. We will try to match you up with the log cabins that are available. Of course cabins will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We'll get back to you as soon as we can.
Please let anybody who might be eligible know. It might not be quite the same as a beach holiday in the Caribbean but it will hopefully relieve some of the stress!
