🐦 The Great Pentref Fledging

For weeks, five little barn swallows have called Pentref Luxury Camping home, tucked safely into their cosy mud nest beneath the shelter of the chicken shack

Now, the big day is here… fledging! 🥰

One by one, those tiny chicks have grown from fluffy little hatchlings into confident young swallows, stretching their wings and edging closer to the nest rim. Now they take their first brave flights, joining their parents in the skies above Pentref.

We’ve loved watching this little family grow, and we’ll be keeping our eyes on the nest as all five youngsters take to the wing. 💕🐦

Mornings spent in the Chicken Shack with the swallow family 💚
We think they will fledge soon as it’s getting a tight squeeze in the nest 🪺 mum and dad working tirelessly to keep them fed on a continuous loop of feeding on demand.. it was flying ant day here yesterday so there was plenty on offer 🐜 🪰

The Swallows of Pentref
Are getting ready to fledge 🦅
Every summer has its own story… and this year, nature wrote a beautiful new chapter here at Pentref.

For the very first time, a pair of barn swallows chose to make their home with us. After travelling thousands of miles from their winter home in Africa, they arrived beneath the roof of our guests’ communal area… The Chicken Shack.

With tiny beaks and endless determination, they built a nest from mud and straw. Before long, four hungry chicks hatched, filling the quiet mornings with the soft sound of life.

Day after day, their parents have swept gracefully across the fields, returning time and again with food, never missing a beat.

Now, those tiny chicks are almost ready. In just a few days, they’ll leave the nest for the very first time, taking to the skies above Pentref and beginning a remarkable journey of their own.

We feel incredibly privileged that, of all the places they could have chosen, they chose Pentref.

Sometimes, the greatest luxury isn’t found inside a tent… / Shepard’s hut or Yurt , it’s found in the wild moments happening all around us.

A lovely site with fantastic amenities. Julia and Jon were lovely hosts very helpful.

Our dog Bruce had a great time the site is completely dog friendly, ideal location for visits to the coast.

We stayed in the shepherd’s hut which had everything we needed for our stay.
Hopefully will return in the future. Highly recommended.
