We took a trip to Gear Farm last month and it was 100% worth the trip!

✨ Hello 2026 Season ✨

This year has not really felt like a gradual warm up to the peak months of holiday letting in Cornwall. I think we recorded 54 days of rain in a row over the winter season. I’d never seen anything like it.

I’m sure you are all aware of the impact that Storm Goretti has had on the far South West in the news. Once again, the intensity was like nothing I had witnessed before and you may still see some evidence of the destruction in the area. Luckily, apart from a few smaller shrubs, we came out unscathed. Remarkably, even my ‘on its last legs’ polytunnel came out the other side!

But here we are, the season starts and we are ready for our first guests to arrive today, hoping that this means the arrival of some more settled weather 😜.

I haven’t advertised much as we are full during Summer 2026, but I believe we have May half-term available and lots of space in May and June when I personally believe it’s at its most gorgeous down here.

At Penhallow, we had the pleasure of hosting the wonderfully magical human, , for the start of her tour .

I’ve personally known Lizzie a while now, and where we no longer live in the same village, her words of encouragement and support are always with me. She once told me to ‘Take the leap’ and from that I’ve ended up moving counties, trialing a completely different career path and finding my limits in trail races…who knows what’s next!

It was a joy to see all her fabulous work come together on the stage at , the show we all need to see, you just didn’t know it yet…

LAST DATES FOR AUGUST 2026 😳!

Good morning all! We are hoping that all our guests - past, present and future - have had a good couple of festive days off and had time to relax 🤞?!

We managed to get out for a cold and crisp Christmas walk by one of our favourite sections of Cornish coastline, Wheal Coates and Chapel Porth, just a short drive from The Barn. Definitely worth a visit on your stay with us.

Talking of holidays, I thought it was best mention that we only have a few days left in August 2026, crazy! You’ve all been super organised.

These dates are SUNDAY 23rd AUG to THURSDAY 27th AUGUST 2026.

There are a few dates left in July before the summer madness descends Cornwall, or lots of dates available in our favourite months, May and June.

After a few weeks with our doors closed to complete phase B of our own renovation project, we are looking forward to welcoming some Christmas and New Year guests while the builders down tools.

It seems the weather will also be on our side for some crisp coastal walks, I’m so relieved!

I can’t quite believe it…

That’s another 7 days booked up by a lovely family in summer 2026!

It’s brilliant that people stay and love it so much they are coming back for more! I think the peace of the Barn and the location of the property really sells it. There is just so much to do around us, another trip is a must 😍

If you want a Summer 2026 break, all I have left is before 23rd July and after 20th August. Get in touch!

WHERE DO THE LOCALS LIKE TO GO IN CORNWALL?

We get this question quite a lot, but there are so many! We like to go everywhere you lot do!

We feel blessed that Cornwall is our home and there are lots of cracking spots, you really can’t go wrong.

I have listed a few of the places we like to go on the images, but, in most cases it isn’t where you go, it’s WHEN you go. We always recommend that guests start their day early to save precious holiday time wasted in traffic jams and queues.

Then, you can come back to the barn, siesta, and go out for an evening stroll and enjoy the sunset 🌅. Pure Bliss!

However, there is one place I will not give away! Can you guess where it is from the picture?!

Cornwall has so much for everyone, we hope you make some very special memories wherever you choose to visit 😍

SUMMER 2026 BOOKINGS HAVE BEGUN!

Yesterday evening my phone pinged with a booking request for summer 2026, exactly a whole year away.

Quite rightly, the family were keen to book as ‘the good ones go quickly’

This has prompted me to let our followers know that if they are super organised also and want to book their slot for summer 2026, 10 days have already gone!

We are hoping for a couple of improvements for next season, including electric vehicle charging and an updated bathroom, but I’ll keep you updated 👍.

Also, a shout out to all of our guests in summer 2025. We have had the best visitors and enjoyed sharing our little piece of Cornwall with you ❤️

We are BURSTING here!

2025 is turning out to be pretty successful in the allotment garden at

Starting to loose my way with it a bit as it comes towards the summer, but I’m glad I put the work in early on, it’s paid off!

Early pots are there for digging, last of the onions ready for pulling, tomatoes on their way, blackcurrants for days and you can always guarantee a marrow!

Lovely to see the guests enjoying our green spaces and taking away some ideas.
