The Bell in Ticehurst

The Bell in Ticehurst 01580 200300 The story of The Bell stretches back to 1560 when it was a rather showy Tudor building. And now we celebrate local produce in all its natural glory.

When we found The Bell, it was crying out for a little tender loving care. So, we have smoothed out the rougher edges but preserved the wonderful imperfections that somehow make it perfect. The food we serve is all about flavour, authenticity and respect. Our cellar holds outstanding and occasionally surprising wines. Harvey’s is on tap and you'll always find a couple of other local ales available

too

Each one of our seven bedrooms tells a story, it’s hard to choose. There's a sinfully comfortable bed in every room – that and a silver birch tree. Then there are three lodges and the fabulous Love nest, all built around a fire pit in the award-winning garden. We have furnished The Bell with old tables and chairs, found objects, simple things done well. That’s The Bell. It all adds up to something that’s familiar yet mysterious, cosy but not sleepy.

We’re delighted to see that the .standard included in a piece on perfect pubs to finish at on a country walk this autumn 🍻

‘One of the prettiest pubs on the outskirts of Bedgebury in the village of Ticehurst is The Bell Inn… it’s practically pulsating with period charm; picture roaring fireplaces, comfy leather armchairs, low hanging beams and bouquets of wildflowers adorning the tables’

Fine dining with extra Bacon?

Art has always been a hugely important part of The Bell, with an eclectic mix of modern and classical pieces from sculpture to paintings to objects on most walls and surfaces, including some surprising places!

To give even more atmosphere to the beautiful Stables for our eight-week pop fine dining experience, an original Francis Bacon triptych has been hung.

Painted by Bacon in 1988, the three paintings are a riot of reds and oranges; part man, part beast, these howling creatures have been described as vengeful Greek Furies.

There’s nothing subtle about this thought provoking piece and will certainly be a conversation starter! Have you seen them yet? Did you love or loathe?

Reservations are open now for The Stables, until 10 November. Book now not to miss out.

Do you know your Back Straight from your Cut in the Ground? 🐎
We had terrific fun naming the new cocktails on the aperitif menu for The Stables. Start the five-course tasting menu dinner with a ‘Grand National’ made with coconut rum and cherry liqueur or an on-the-home-straight ‘Kentucky Derby’, made with bourbon, sherry and violet liqueur. Pictured here is the ‘Royal Ascot’, a fine blend of sparkling wine, fig liqueur and syrup, made from the leaves of the huge fig tree in the garden, dry martini and lemon juice.
Which cocktail would you choose?🍸

We’re looking forward to launching The Stables at The Bell, our new fine-dining experience. The pop-up residency has been created by head chef Mark Charker and will run for eight weeks only.
Autumn is a beautiful season with many of the summer vegetables and fruits still around but we’re also seeing the start of the mushroom and game season. It’s the best of both worlds! 🍂
The Stables will be the perfect dining choice if you’re looking for something truly special. Launching on Tuesday 20th, reservations open now
