đŸ„Ÿ Some of the best walks in Pembrokeshire start right from our front door

One of the things we love most about being in St Davids is that you don’t need to get in the car before your walk even begins.

From Ramsey House, you’re within easy reach of some spectacular sections of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

We’ve put together a guide to some of our favourite walks, including:

🌊 Porthclais to Whitesands – our favourite! Around 8.3 miles from Ramsey House, taking in beaches, the lifeboat station, spectacular views of Ramsey Island and the fast-moving waters of Ramsey Sound. And there’s a cafĂ© waiting at Whitesands when you arrive!

â›Ș Porthclais to Solva via St Non’s – a beautiful 2œ–3 hour walk taking in the place where tradition says St David was born, the tiny chapel, healing well and stunning views across St Bride’s Bay.

🌊 Solva to Newgale – a hillier and more challenging walk, but with some wonderful views across Solva and Newgale.

🐮 Porthgain to Whitesands – a longer adventure taking in the Blue Lagoon, Abereiddi and the wilder landscape of St Davids Head, where you may encounter the local wild ponies. If you have the energy, the detour up Carn Llidi gives you one of the most unmissable views in the area. Keep an eye out for the ancient Coetan Arthur cromlech too.

🌅 Porthclais, St Non’s & Caerfai circular – our shorter option, taking around 1œ–2 hours and bringing you back into St Davids for a well-earned coffee, lunch or browse around the shops.

We’ve included practical information, walking times and our own local tips in the full guide.

And remember, the best way to walk the Pembrokeshire Coast is slowly. Stop for the views. Explore the little corners. Listen to the sea. Take the photograph.

That’s what being here is all about. ❀

🌒 Did you know that a partial solar eclipse will be visible from Pembrokeshire next month?

On Wednesday 12 August, the eclipse will begin at around 6.15pm, reaching its maximum at approximately 7.12pm before ending shortly after 8pm.

Here in Pembrokeshire, around 94% of the Sun is expected to be covered, weather permitting, of course! đŸ€žđŸ»

For the best chance of seeing it, find somewhere with a clear view towards the west.

Please remember never to look directly at the Sun, ordinary sunglasses aren’t safe, so please make sure you use certified eclipse glasses or another safe viewing method.

Where in Pembrokeshire will you try to watch it from? 👀

🌅 Where’s the best place to watch the sunset in St Davids?

Everyone knows about our spectacular coastline, but one of our favourite sunset spots isn’t a beach at all.

Perched on the bench above Porth y TĆ”r (the Bell Tower), the view across St Davids Cathedral as the evening light catches the ancient stone is simply magical. As the Cathedral bells echo gently across the valley, it’s one of the most peaceful places to end the day.

Of course, there are plenty of other wonderful places to watch the sun go down too. From the glowing red cliffs of Caerfai Bay, the wide-open sands of Whitesands, the tranquillity of Porthclais Harbour, the sweeping views from St Non’s, or, for those who enjoy a climb, the breathtaking panorama from Carn Llidi.

We’ve rounded up all of our favourite sunset spots in our latest blog, along with a few local tips to help you make the most of a Pembrokeshire evening.
