Soooo much going on in July! Loads of hot and sticky guests over the heatwave, Andy away to the Picos de Europa for a couple of weeks, me squeezing in some Munro adventures and a couple of cheeky climbing days; all topped off by a Via Ferrata up the second tallest waterfall in the country, in Kinlochleven 😅.
I’d like to say that August will be less hectic but it’s off to a strong start 😂
Photo dump incoming….

Woohoo! It’s arrived! ☀️
Quick dash up to Kintail for a jaunt up Beinn Fhada to find that the parking was full due to a Mountain Rescue incident.☹️
Ended up rawdogging a top at the end of the five sisters instead.
Cloudy but boiling and the week is only getting hotter! 🥵

Perfect example of why we never trust the weather forecast!
Yesterday’s expectation, doomed to be cloudy, very poor visibility all over. Reality a gorgeous day in the cairngorms up Ben Bhreac and Beinn a’chaourainn tops. The weather was so good I added on Ben Mheadhoin tops too before heading back to Linn of Dee.
Today was forecast rain across the whole of Scotland, apparently no one told Beinn Bhrotain ‘cos it was gorgeous there too! 🤷‍♀️. The moral of this story is ‘just get out there’ it’s not always as it seems!

Yey! What a lovely day to have a wander in Glen Nevis. Along to Steall Falls then on to tick off a couple more tops.
Full panoramic views of the Mamores, the Aonachs and Grey Corries was just the tonic after such a miserable wet spell.
The stinky boggy ground wasn’t so great on the descent and my trainers could clear a room in 30 seconds but it was worth it.
(FYI, a MINI Cooper isn’t sufficiently ventilated for swamp feet 😂).

Well, this week has been totally pants ☹️.
The weather Gods are against us and all of our hardy guests have been keeping a brave face against the rain, wind and midges… thankfully when the sun has shined (all but briefly) it’s been almost too warm.
In a hopeful escape to Glenshee to get in some tops on Wednesday I was hailstoned off the hill! Come on summer, it’s time you arrived!

A week (ish) in photos…
Sunday - Ben More #50
Monday - attempting to scramble up Creise but it was wet and greasy so I chickened out of lots of the tricky stuff. Got a nice coffee at the ski resort for the way home though 😁
Wednesday - a wee trip to the climbing wall in Callander to remind me that I’m really not great at climbing…
Thursday - Carn Bhac and it’s top from Braemar searching for good weather.
Friday - Bynack More tops, second attempt this year 👍
Saturday - out in the Gorms with Atlas Mountaineering
Sunday - Ben Starav tops in Glen Etive
Monday - Pink Rib scramble in Glencoe
Glad to be back at work today, having time off is exhausting 😂

Making hay while the sun shines; off to Kintail for a quick Munro top this lunchtime.
It’s the Scottish 6 days trial starting with the pre 65’s tomorrow so there will be less mountains from me and more bikes from him for a while 😊
