By The Way Tyndrum

By The Way Tyndrum By The Way Hostel and Campsite is situated directly on the West Highland Way. The Hostel sleeps 26 and has a large open plan kitchen/dining area.

It is a superb location for munro "baggers". There are 50 munros within approx. 20 miles of By The Way. The trekker huts and camping cabins are ideal for campers who fancy a little bit of luxury. Dogs are also welcome in the huts and cabins.

The Ultra trail run - Devil of The Highlands - is on 6th August. This photo is from the race in 2016 !! I love the race so much and look forward to taking part again this year πŸ˜€

Had a great time on Sat, running Devil of the Highlands (43 miles from Tyndrum to Fort William). Although my time was not what I had hoped for, still won a trophy, so that was good. Also bumped into so many customers who had been staying at By The Way. One guy from Holland was on his return leg, having just done the 550 Highland Trail route, on a mountain bike.

So we had a review from a single occupant, saying that our Double Posh Pod was not big enough for two people and there was not enough storage. Maybe this person is used to hotel rooms, and I am not sure how much storagw was expected, given that you coukd probably fit two udults under the bed, as well as on top of the double bed !!! 😢😢

We are open from 26 April - hooray!!! Looking forward to seeing people again.

To all those "Highland Flingers" the Fling would've been tomorrow and the weather will be amazing - even a bit too hot. If only we could "cut and paste" the weather to next year's Fling!!

Fab canicross run today with Ziggy, from Kingshouse to Tyndrum. At times I was β€œflying”. Imagine being able to do a race like Devil of The Highlands with a dog pulling you along. I would win it outright!! πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸΆ

We have a new addition to our huts (built by Ranald). This hut has a double bed and the luxury of a sofa. There is a lot of storage under the bed, which is great for large back packs etc. Also included are - fridge, microwave, kettle, TV, free WIFI and USB point. Hopefully it won’t be too long now until By The Way can open. πŸ˜€πŸ‘

Last June I did the Comrades Virtual Race (which is a well known race in South Africa). I have always wanted to do the β€œproper” race, but due to our season, it’s too busy at that time of year to go to SA.

The day of the Virtual race was quite hot. I ran from Killin to Callander and back. Also added a few miles to make up the 90km. I didn’t have any support, so carried quite a lot. In the actual race there are obviously a lot of re-fuelling stations etc.

So, today I finally received my race medal, certificate etc. There was a hold up with postage, COVID etc. πŸ˜πŸ‘
