It might be raining outside (again!) but it’s nice and cosy in our tea room. We’re at 61 Front Street right next door to the Salutation Pub. We sell alcohol too but lots of savoury homemade sandwiches, panini, scones, tea cakes, soup, quiche, jackets and afternoon teas! Always a warm welcome!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND TO ALL THE AMAZING WOMEN OUT THERE! Whether or not you’re a Mum, Nan, Mam, Gran , Auntie, Sister thank you for all you do to make the world a better place!

Our tea room is open today from 10.30am to 3.30pm and our tea garden is now open following some maintenance work.

🏖️ Tourist Tax Consultation – have your say (closes 18 Feb 2026)

The Government is consulting on a new “overnight visitor levy” — a tourist tax on paid overnight stays. That means charges could be added to stays in hotels, B&Bs, guesthouses, campsites, caravans and holiday lets/short-term lets.

For a coastal community like Tynemouth — built on small, family-run hospitality businesses — this isn’t a harmless tweak. It risks:

pushing up the cost of a weekend away,

squeezing local B&Bs and independents already operating on tight margins,

and making the coast less competitive for staycations.

The consultation also talks about setting the levy as a percentage of the accommodation cost and asks whether there should be caps on the rate and number of nights it can apply.

Well amazingly today it’s not raining and we actually saw the sun! (briefly 😂)!

Our tea room is open 10.30 to 3.30 today and Sunday so why not come over for a warm welcome and try some of our tasty offerings!

Homemade soups today are Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato with a hint of 🌶️ and Lentil. All our homemade sandwiches/ paninis. Jacket Potatoes , quiche. scones, teacakes, cakes, prosecco!

Welcome back after the Christmas & New Year break! The tea room is now open on weekends 10.30am til 3.30pm.

Why not pop in for our breakfast in a bap - 2 rashers bacon, 2 GF 85% pork sausages , Cheese &. a fried egg including a tea or filter coffee for only £9.95. (GF toast available instead of the bap). All our usual items on offer and the homemade soup this weekend is Broccoli & Stilton! See you soon 😀🍰❤️
