Loch Achall

Just a few minutes from Ardvreck, the road to Loch Achall begins on the edge of Ullapool and winds its way through birch woodland before opening out beside the loch.

It’s a lovely walk for a quieter afternoon — following the river through the Rhidorroch Estate before reaching Loch Achall, with the hills stretching out beyond. And, as ever around here, the journey is very much part of it.

One of those places that feels wonderfully remote, despite being so close to Ullapool.

Corrieshalloch Gorge

Just 12 miles from Ardvreck, Corrieshalloch Gorge is home to the dramatic Falls of Measach, plunging into the gorge below.

The suspension bridge gives you the famous view, but it’s worth carrying on. Through the woodland there are smaller waterfalls, beautiful stretches beside the river and paths winding through the birch trees.

A lovely few hours out from Ullapool, and somewhere we’d happily recommend while you’re staying with us.
